There is nothing quite like the feeling of watching a lovely young lady walk out of the makeup/styling room and then reeling with delight when I bask in a true example of artistry performed on her by a consummate professional. Such is the case with Naomi Herron, my primary MUA/Stylist at my Worcester, MA studio. Between her knowledge of my general tastes, her unerring ability to sense the direction my shoot plan will be heading, her superb evaluative skills in assessing the needs of the client, as well as her charm, enthusiasm and aplomb, Naomi is not only one of the most important parts of my business, she makes each and every shoot at which she is present at a delight. I once asked her to create a work of art on Chrissy Scobi’s makeup so sublime that, “when she comes out of the back, I want my heart to shatter into a million tiny shards, never to be reassembled”. An army of Humpty Dumpties couldn’t mend the pulverizing my chest took when I saw a level of loveliness that has never been equaled.

GlamModelz Magazine: What first got you interested in the artistry of makeup and hair design?   Naomi: I have always had a passion since I was young for makeup and hair. Shopping as a little girl I loved visiting all the makeup counters. It has always fascinated me how makeup can transform a person.

GlamModelz Magazine: How long have you been working in the beauty industry?   Naomi: Fresh out of high school I went for my cosmetology license and was working in a salon right away. It has been 9 years now.

GlamModelz Magazine: You style both bridal and model looks and I’m sure each requires a very different approach. What differences have you noticed?   Naomi: I find I can be more creative and artistic when working with models, especially in runway. Brides seem to be more reserved and want a timeless look that they will not regret when showing their grandkids wedding photos. I have had a few brides with themed weddings which allows the hair and makeup to be more dramatic, that is always fun!

GlamModelz Magazine: You do both hair and makeup styling. Which would you say is your forte, or which do you prefer?   Naomi: This is always a hard decision for me to make. I have to say, I get really excited about makeup, there is nothing like starting off with a fresh face and making it look completely different. However without the right hairstyle, the makeup is no good.

GlamModelz Magazine: Any advice for the beginner in the beauty design field?  Naomi: Always be willing to learn new techniques and new things. Even after 9 years, I’m still finding new tricks, and ways to improve my work. Also, network, network, network. The only way you’re going to get anywhere in this industry is by knowing the right people and making the right connections.

GlamModelz Magazine: What do you see as the big trend for makeup or hair this year? Any guess what next year’s trends might be?  Naomi: Neutral and natural seems to be where the off camera trend is. Less is more in this case. Having perfectly flawless skin with a subtle eye and soft lip. However, with that said, I dislike keeping to rules and trends of makeup. Makeup is meant to be fun and creative; the sky should be the limit.

GlamModelz Magazine: What would be your dream gig if you got the chance to do it?  Naomi: I would LOVE to do a hair and/or makeup for a movie production. How cool would it be to see your work on the big screen!

GlamModelz Magazine: What was the most bizarre request for makeup artistry you’ve received so far?   Naomi: I always go back to one of the first modeling gigs I had. A peacock feather shoot. It contained everything from crazy exotic colorful makeup to attaching real peacock feathers onto this models hair and clothes.

GlamModelz Magazine: When you’re not making people beautiful, what can we find you doing?  Naomi: Taking care of my two kids, Ethan and Mia. Family and friends are very important to us, so whenever we get free time, we are usually all spending it together.

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started!  Tell me about your background…how did you get started in Photography?  Jeff: As a boy, I was handed a Polaroid camera and shot a picture that developed, in black and white, before my eyes.  I could not believe how cool that was and just wanted to keep shooting.  Over the years, I gradually learned what you could do with a more sophisticated camera and began shooting landscapes and flowers.  Then finally I moved into doing forensic photography as part of my law practice out of necessity because I couldn’t find a “for hire photographer” who could capture the moment I wanted for use in jury trials I was handling.

GlamModelz Magazine: Why Glamour /Beauty?  What other genre’s and styles interest you? Jeff:  Outside of Glamour/Beauty, it would have to be landscape, floral, architectural and forensic photography.

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry?  What would you change about it, if you could?  Jeff: The industry does not strike me as being very organized or structured.  Anyone can get into the industry but not everybody can make money in the business.

I have met many talented and accomplished photographers who have not had the right contacts or opportunities to develop the economic side of the photography business.  This leads a lot of people in the direction of the more mundane world of what I would call the “face shot” side of the photography industry.

Just like in every industry, there will always be a big demand for high quality work product and talented photographers, but matching the service providers with the people seeking the services is the marketing conundrum.

GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your “best shot”?  Jeff: I guess I would have to say that I am a minimalist at heart.  It’s great to have an expensive camera, lens, lighting options and a studio, but I can capture a “best shot” with a basic camera outdoors or basic camera and two soft light boxes indoors.  I just have to make certain that the basic camera will allow me to do the my manual settings.

GlamModelz Magazine: Paid vs. TF* shoots – What are your views and preferences? Jeff: My view here is pretty simple.  Paying for a shoot makes sense to me when there is a model, well known or not, whom I want to shoot or there is some other special or unique circumstance that merits a “pay for” shooting.  TF on the other hand for me is limited to a model that I want to add to my portfolio or an up and coming model that needs to create a portfolio to get to the next level.  I do both, but it’s more the exception than what is normal since neither one contributes to the bottom line.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a photographer?  Jeff: My inspirations come from many sources and directions.  For example, how could anyone not be inspired by the quality and the beauty of the National Geographic’s outdoor photography, or the lighting techniques of the Playboy photographers, capturing the moment in a sporting event and editorial photography of the war zone photographers?

I am constantly impressed and inspired by the color and beauty of flowers, mountain vistas, sunsets, forensic scenes and the uniqueness and complexity of architectural creations and settings.

I admire and am inspired by Ansel Adams and the musician Bryan Adams (who are not related although they share the same last name).  Bryan has managed to successfully continue with his musical career while at the same time becoming an outstanding photographer who has garnered international recognition.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your photography?  Other goals?   Jeff: My goals are simple, I want to continue to improve on the quality, clarity, content and the story line that my images create.

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should  Models/MUA’s/Stylists, etc have to work with you?   Jeff: Whether you are a Model, MUA or Stylist you must be on time, be prompt, be fully involved, be prepared, be inspired, be enthusiastic, be open to learning, and be brave enough to step outside of your normal comfort zones.  When these things happen, something magical will take place in front of the lens and on the digital disk.   Anyone can take a picture, but I want to a capture a moment, an emotion, a color and a wow factor.  It takes a team effort.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur photographers who want to shoot glamour?   Jeff: With today’s ever improving digital cameras, anyone can take a pretty good picture automatically.  The really famous and recognized photographers are not interested in taking pretty good pictures.  The only way to accomplish taking great pictures that ooze with emotion, sparkle with stunning lighting, pop with brilliant color, and amaze with texture, clarity and details, is to study, understand and master the manual functionality of your camera, to understand the science and placement of lighting, and to interact with the model to draw out the emotion, mood and look you desire.  Most importantly, don’t be hesitant to experiment with different techniques because the use of different methods of photography will enhance your overall understanding and improvement.  Finally, don’t settle for run of the mill pretty good pictures.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud.   Jeff: I am not sure I can really identify a biggest accomplishment or proudest moment as a photographer.  Like most photographers, I have had the picture of the day recognition, showcase images, pictures published, hired for cool projects, and had people and companies buy or license my images. Each of these experiences is joyful.  I am happiest when someone takes the time to say or point out that one of my images really left them with a particular reaction, feeling, emotion or a sense of artistry or creativity.

 GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to shoot glamour? Jeff: Don’t leave it to someone else when it comes to your looks, hair, make-up, and wardrobe.

Every image that is taken of you has the potential to negatively or positively influence how you appear and are perceived and recognized publicly for years to come.  So make sure you always look your best and the way you want to be depicted in the project you are hired for and in the images that will be taken of you.

GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel?   Jeff: I have really jumped with both feet into cooking and thoroughly enjoy the creativity and complexity of it.  I did zero cooking growing up, and then did my share of over cooking on the grill and had little to no understanding of the concepts.  With a little effort and a few lessons, I can knock out anything from a quality tiramisu to a wild game feast.  I really regret now not paying more attention to all of the things my mother and grandmother knew and could have taught me about cooking.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you?   Jeff: I spend the majority of my time working in my very active trial law practice in Texas; which means I don’t get to spend as much time in shooting as I would like to do. And I guess the other interesting fact would be that I did my first glamour shoot in June of 2008.

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started!  Tell me about your background…how did you get started in Photography?  Loris: I started photography quit by accident.  I was at a photography workshop accompanying  my wife, who is a model (Larisa  Romanova). Shortly thereafter I was immediately published in a magazine that was glamorous American cars and motorcycles, from there I realized that this was the my new path to follow and intensify. In the beginning I have only the model wife and I have honed my skills with her, then move on to  different models. And the addiction to photography began!

GlamModelz Magazine: Why Glamour ?  What other genre’s and styles interest you? Loris: My preferred genre is the glamour because it represents my inner emotions it fills up and sets the adrenalin in motion. I also admire to the beauty of the nude form, but I also have a deep love fashion and I adore portraiture. I have a special predisposition for the style of glamour calendars.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a photographer?  Loris: My main inspiration is Italian photographer Settimio Benedusi, He taught me to use natural lighting by watching him work.

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry?  What would you change about it, if you could?  Loris: My greater challenge is without a doubt is my presentation and worth of the general public.  Just like all the artists I would want to leave my mark in the time with great works of  Art.  I would change this prospective of art within Italy, if I could, but I am afraid that is not possible. There is an ever increase number of talented artists here, but the field does not ear the respect as in America, or other nations in which the talent it is valued. I would not hesitate to go to the USA.

GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your “best shot”?  Loris: The essential one is the secret of a good location. I adores the photos in outside, the simplicity and the natural light creates from always the best images. My eye, of course, the brush I use is: Canon 5D mark II and my trusted 50 millimeter lens. I in some cases the aid of my external flash as fill light. Light is your friend in photography!

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your photography?  Other goals?   Loris: My primary object is being published on important better magazine if with a beautiful Glamour Nudes, Calendars and Glamour, and my lifetime goal would be to publish a book of my own works, that tells my vision of history in the beauty of the female form and glamour.

GlamModelz Magazine: Which qualities would have models/Mua ‘ s/Designers, etc to work with you? Loris: Generally if I must make what I feel truly, appeals to me to represent the simplicity and the  atmosphere of the model, with makes up much light therefore, I leave  her much naturally.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur photographers who want to shoot glamour?   Loris: – Try to represent what you have in mind without thinking too costly. Minor equipment and various lights, Your eyes and vision are the most important part of every glamour photographer.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud.   Loris:  My work in general, what I do makes me proud every time, every shot.  I only choose to shoot what personally moves me and makes me happy at times. I know I have succeeded at my job, creating beautiful art when tears of emotion run down my face, do not hide the joy!

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to shoot glamour? Loris: Glamour is a wonderful world of gestures, natural and spontaneous, so if you are sensuality, so let your sexy inner-self go naturally and everything will be seen beautifully in the finished photos.

GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel?   Loris: : – I have been a great disc jockey, I am a personal trainer and a interior designer, specializing in houses.

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started!  Tell me about your background…how did you get started in Photography?  Rick

 GlamModelz Magazine: Why Glamour /Fashion/Beauty?  What other genre’s and styles interest you? Rick: I have always believed women to be the most engaging and mesmeric work of art in creation. The stunning loveliness of a woman’s eyes, the incredible allure of their hair and the uniquely beautiful planes and curves of a woman’s figure are nowhere to be seen in any other place on the face of the Earth. Rivers and mountains all seem to flow together into imagery that becomes redundant. But the myriad beauty of women and the individuality of how their physical features are fused with their personalities make glamor and fashion incredibly rewarding. While those two genres of photography are my primary loves, I do enjoy true conceptual and experimental art, but sadly there aren’t many opportunities to engage in it due to time constraints. I have been enjoying doing greater amounts of maternity shoots, some with just the mother, or both parents or even family portraiture. There are wonderful challenges to making those moments memorable and I enjoy that chance to create something special.

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry?  What would you change about it, if you could?  Rick: Sadly the industry faces two distinct threats. One is the glut of people calling themselves “photographers”. You don’t have to have a degree to be a photographer, but you do have to put in Herculean efforts to learning the craft and all its components. So many “photographers” exist now, who are so very eager just to get a pretty girl in front of their camera and call it “art” or some such euphemism. There is so little thought put into lighting, composition, pose theory, eliciting expression, teaching models the craft, creating chemistry and dynamic partnerships, that what passes for photography really is something far less. It is a loss since people who go to such charlatans are turned off by these fiends and we all pay a price. Models become far less trusting and photographers more jaded. The other threat is the absurd amount of TF going on. TF has its place and will always be a part of the industry. But too many “photographers” give their valuable time away in such a manner that it makes it much harder for people who pursue this professionally to succeed. TF has to have strict limits and more importantly, an even stricter sense of philosophy as to why it should be done. All pursuits in life must be followed with a degree of contemplation. Photography is no exception.

 GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your “best shot”?  Rick: Planning is my most important weapon. You can have a great camera, better lenses and superior lighting. You can have supreme command of editing software. If you do not plan accordingly for whatever type of client you are serving, your results will be indifferent at best, disastrous at worst. I want to know the client, understand their motivations and needs and then marry their thought to my vision. I work very hard to make each effort on the behalf of clients as individualized as possible. I go into each shoot with a plan. While I often say “it is never-varying strategy” I do allow for flexibility and spontaneity. However, there has to be a baseline of carefully considered approach and “gaming out” the kinds of outcomes you hope to achieve. Winging it is what you do with SOME of the TF chances you might engage in with a treasured colleague. However, if you are providing a colleague with specific imagery for their needs, a plan is an essential tool. Being a master of preparation means creating a mastery of all the avenues of photographic expression, for you will give earnest thought to lighting, posing, backgrounds, wardrobe, colors and textures, as well as personality, which will deeply influence the mood of each image.

 GlamModelz Magazine: We can see you are a busy commercial photographer. When was the last time you picked up your camera and shot for fun? Tell us about it? Rick: Well, that depends on what you are talking about. I still enjoy landscape in all its forms. On an abnormally warm day this past March here in Massachusetts, after one of the mildest winters we’ve ever had, I took my camera to some favorite spots to find some early Spring flowers and was rewarded with a pair of amazing blossoms. From that I made a composite, posting it on Facebook and tagging as many of those special young ladies that I could, to show my adoration and appreciation. I also have an “inner circle” of trusted models who I enjoy doing exceedingly creative work with from time to time when I can spare myself from my schedule. One of those moments involved a HUGE length of shimmery cloth and some intriguing ways to wrap it about her and the trail it off into the shadows. Both of these kinds of moments are what keep the mind fresh, the spirit recharged and the creative well replenished. People forget that creativity, like water, resides in reservoirs like “spiritual aquifers”. Without time and opportunity for the waters to refill, vitality is lost.

 GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a photographer?  Rick: -From a photographic standpoint, I am most impressed and consistently moved by the works of Rich Cutrone, Alex Manfredini, Drew Santos, Robert Alvarado and Philipe. Each brings to the table an artistic integrity and a passionate intensity that arouses my admiration. I have been accused of being the World’s Worst Workaholic. The beauty each of these gentlemen brings into being pushes me to do better, to not be satisfied with the results that I know I  can improve upon and to seek for that feeling of peace inside when I know I have created something worthy. From an artistic/personal standpoint, I am equally inspired and supported by the models who have become the Pillars of My Studio. Without the devotion, commitment, caring and wonderful understanding of these young ladies, I would still be in the limbo where once I was. I have grown to detest the word “muse” for it is ill-understood and even more poorly used. These wonderful young women go beyond muses, for their friendship and passionate dedication to my artistic and business goals never ceases to amaze me. While my own personal success certainly has appeal, I am driven to create a foundation from which these models can grow their own forms of accomplishment and reach heights that will sustain them personally and professionally. In that way, I guess I am still very much like the class room teacher I was. I am deeply committed to seeing the people in my studio climb the ladder to self-improvement and happiness.

GlamModelz Magazine: I have been admiring your lighting on this night shot. Are you a strobist?  How do you go about planning lighting on such a large scene?   Rick: – I use the lighting that works best in situation that has been presented. If strobes are what the moment calls for, whether it’s in the studio, on the beach, at a location shoot like this car shoot, then strobes it is. If I can utilize natural light fully, I do so. If I need to blend the two, that is the plan. As far as lighting goes, it is essential that depth and complexity are maintained and even enhanced. Whether that requires one light or many lights, I care most about making the subject look enticing, telling some kind of story, drawing the viewer into the scene and keeping them there until withdrawing entails effort. I want all the elements of any image to create harmony and work in such a way that each has its own ascendancy in the viewing, but no one element is wholly dominant. It is interesting that you chose this car shot, as I like shooting cars but don’t do it a lot. I can’t get cars into my studio. Motorcycles are another matter. I get bikes as long as 11 ft into the lift and down the hall, through the doors and into my back room where I can array lights around them like a combat regiment. Then it becomes a frenzy of competing shades and tones to make the bike and the model shine!

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models/MUA’s/Stylists, etc have to work with you?   Rick: -In this, you can really see my background as a teacher. I expect models/MUAs/stylists and all the other people involved in a shoot to be responsible, devoted, trustworthy and hard working. While photography is an art, professional photography is also a business and as such, appropriate standards of business behavior are essential. Being on time, being honest, being dependable seem like such obvious qualities, but they are not always in evidence and THEY MUST BE. However, there is a human element to this. I do prefer working with people who are respectful, ethical, have compassion and empathy and are thoughtful folk. One of the things that can make any shoot an experiential moment is relaxed and pleasant “give and take” intellectually and emotionally. We are all mortal beings with a need for acceptance and validation. Just as I want each and every person to leave my studio feeling happy, safe and thrilled with their time spent, I want my own experience to be something positive.-

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur photographers who want to shoot glamour?   Rick: More than anything, photographers have to do three things. First, know your camera. You should be able to predict the outcome of your actions fairly consistently, whether it is indoor or outdoor conditions. Frustration is a natural occurrence in the brain when forced to deal with complicated problem solving situations. That is how we grow cognitively. But anger is not productive and leads to a form of failure when people give up on being innovative. The more you learn, the more you can learn and once that chain reaction begins, the sky is the limit for improvement. Second, have a serious discussion with yourself about your ethical standards. There are far too many people in this industry for questionable reasons and they cheapen what it is we do. Explore in your heart what you do, why you do it and apply those ethics in an unwavering and equal manner to each and every person you interface with throughout the journey. A reputation for standards and respect is possibly just as important as technical skill. Finally, know what really drives your passion and find a way to make it part of the core of your daily existence. There are genres of photography that do not delight me as much as fashion, glamor and beauty; pinup for instance. I like it but I don’t live for it. As such, I work in directions where my strengths are accentuated and my weaknesses do not cause problems for the client.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud.   Rick: -It would have to be a combination of this opportunity with Glam Modelz and those I have been given with Men’s Fitness. Getting a chance to display my work, but at the same time showcasing the superb talents/efforts of the models of my studio makes me as happy and as proud as I could possibly be. I have done a great deal in my life, seen much, experienced much and genuinely feel blessed. But these young ladies are still new to the journey, and anything I can do to help them along the way and make it richer and more rewarding is more important to me by far.-

 GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to shoot glamour? Rick: -Much like my advice to photographers, models have to have some very serious inner debates. First, you have to really own and embrace the nature of glamor and its reality. Glamor means sexy imagery of a varying range of intensity, but it is not conservative. If you fancy yourself a glamor model and yet feel uncomfortable with “sexy content”, then this field isn’t for you. While you can try to “get use to” lingerie, sexy costumes or implieds, it really is an instinctive thing. Glamor Models BURN in their souls to be in front of that camera and to create imagery that cuts deep into the hearts of viewers. If that fire isn’t there, you are headed down a road that will lead to disappointment. In a similar vein, glamor models have to do some evaluative thinking about the consequences of their actions in this industry. For every one friend or family member who cheers you on and says “You’re so gorgeous and I love your pics”, there will be one person who says words that probably shouldn’t be printed here. No matter what you do to explain to them what this industry is about and why it is important to you, they can’t and won’t understand. Living with the reality of that equation is not an easy thing to do. Many young women want to model, but they also want ALL the support of ALL the people they know. That isn’t realistic. It seems strange to be preaching a pragmatic view of an industry that creates fantasy, but it is an essential life skill. Young women who come into this industry expecting it will be smooth sailing and a fairytale come true are often ground up by the teeth that lay under the surface. The worst hurt is usually taken from those closest to them, like family and friends, those that one would expect the most support from. Glamor imagery elicits some very surprising reactions from people. Often times you will see them in ways you never could have predicted.

 GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel?   Rick: -I have had a talent for writing since my boyhood and while I enjoy it and do a fair amount, it doesn’t turn my blood to quicksilver as photography does. I enjoy the outdoors, either flyfishing, camping or hiking, but sadly those pursuits have taken a bit of a backseat to the demands of the studio. I have also dabbled with gardening off and on over the years. I am still an avid reader. My students use to ask me who my favorite author was and my answer is now as it was then, it isn’t possible to choose a favorite when one loves the music of language. One of my stranger and yet most rewarding pursuits was in the avenue of horror television. With my friends Isaac, Mark, Tim and Tom, we started up a “horror-host” TV show on Keene, New Hampshire Public Access many years ago that has grown beyond anything we ever thought it would. It is called Saturday Fright Special and it is or has been viewed in more than half the states in the US and we have produced more than 100 episodes. Writing for the show was once one of the most involved efforts I’ve ever taken on, that is until my studio became the center of my life.-

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you?   Rick: -I have many loves when it comes to photography, but those who know me best know that if I could shoot on the beach all the time, each and every day, I would. I suppose I would get bored with it eventually and that one of the joys about life in New England is that the seasons force us to appreciate each and every segment of the year and what it offers. But there is something about the rich colors of sea and sky, the vistas that blend with those elemental forces and how a model can be made to look as if they are commanding, or in tune with, or another of the Forces of Nature around them, all at the same time looking sexy, beautiful and mesmeric. On another level, one of my greatest joys is getting a chance to teach young models and photographers the craft, and seeing their souls open up to this world. One of my favorite memories was of a young lady who had shot with me for the 3^rd time. We sat down at the computer and began reviewing her images. I looked over and saw tears coursing down her face. Her words are graven in my aging memory for all time. “I never thought I’d ever feel this good about myself or feel beautiful like this ever again”. We cannot always know the impact that we have on each other or the impression we leave on the future, but it is moments like that where I know my efforts at creating beauty touch an eternity beyond the boundaries of the lens.

GlamModelz Magazine: How long have you been working in the beauty industry?

Sonia: I have been in the beauty industry for over 15 years. Makeup/Beauty/Fashion is my passion and I love to make people happy and beautiful! I have a natural passion for the art of makeup and I assure you will witness it through my work. I love playing with colors to make all my clients look naturally stunning.

I currently run my own business and have been involved with MAC Cosmetics in the Chicago area since 2000. Being trained by MAC has been such an asset to my career. While in London, I trained with Ash Kumar (www.ashkumar.com) who is a leader in the Asian beauty world. I learned tips and tricks that have helped advance my artistic techniques and made my clients look their their best. I do bridal events as well as fashion and with both I love to use color to enhance the natural beauty of my clients.

GlamModelz Magazine: You do both hair and makeup styling. Which would you say is your forte, or which do you prefer?

Sonia: Even though I have the ability to do both makeup and hair – Makeup is my forte. I love making my bridal clients naturally beautiful and flawless and my fashion clients bold and different. I love to color-play, so you will see a lot of that in my work. I have to tell you that I love-love-love being a makeup artist because every face is a blank canvas and its my job to create an amazing outcome. One of my favorite things about being a makeup and hair artist is the interaction with clients because I love working with people and that I get to make this world beautiful, one client at a time. I am so grateful for where I was and where I have come. I truly enjoy my career and enjoy teaching my clients how they can become a fashionista with just a little bit of makeup and hair.

GlamModelz Magazine: What do you see as the big trend for makeup or hair this year? Any guess what next year’s trends might be?

Sonia: The current trend is the bold, bright lip… which I am loving! Any woman can wear this look: just make sure that all of the rest of your makeup is neutral and then add a splash of color on your lips. Makeup is what you make of it. Every woman is different so create own your style and make it unique… just like you.

GlamModelz Magazine: When you’re not making people beautiful, what can we find you doing?

Sonia: My sole passion is making others beautiful and happy! If I am not out doing makeup and hair I am with my three beautiful daughters and wonderful husband. I also am trying to be more of a blogger and update my website with new tips and tricks for makeup/hair and the latest fashion trends.

GlamModelz Magazine is pleased to introduce our GlamPro guest artist of the month Victoria Meadows, of Oni Studios, from Oak Harbor, Washington.
Victoria: 

When we first started out I don’t think we thought we were going to get so serious about the craft. In fact, we viewed it as more of a hobby rather than something that we’d pursue professionally. My first photography experience was holding a reflector while Travis shot models we found on model mayhem. Gradually I started taking a more active role in it until I had completely taken over. I had fell in love with the art and attended a few schools to better my skills. Since then we have flourished in our community, and have gotten clients from as far away as Canada. We don’t know what the future holds but our goal is to move more into publishing our work in magazines, and we are starting to shoot specifically for that industry.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you feel about being a female in a male dominated industry, what challenges do you face? Any resentment? Any other words of wisdom for female photographers?  Victoria: Photography has been a male profession for a long time, however, slowly, but surely women are taking over. Some of my customers are surprised when they learn that I am a woman, but most others are relieved. I find that being a female boudoir photographer is actually easier. Many of the girls I shoot say that they would not feel this comfortable with a male photographer. So no, there is no resentment at all, but I do find that I have to work a bit harder to be taken seriously.

GlamModelz Magazine: Your work style and concepts are cutting edge from sexy glamour, to art.  What inspires you and how do these projects develop? Victoria: I can get inspired just driving down the street and seeing an abandoned building or a run-down barn, but most of my inspiration I draw from other artists. Luis Royo, Dorian Cleavenger and Michael Mobius are truly amazing and are an endless source of crazy ideas. Gayla from 666Photography is an innovator and someone I look up to. I love looking through other photographers work and try to figure out their lighting setup. People like George Hurrell and Bunny Yeager are masters of light on level I am yet to achieve.

GlamModelz Magazine: Our readers really want to know what your favored editing programs are and any tips or tricks you care to share with us? Victoria: Up until recently my husband, Travis, did most of  the editing. We use Photoshop CS4 and he is very good at taking images I produced, listening to my vision and manipulating it to tell the story I had in mind. Plug-ins like Mama Shan’s have made our editing process so much easier and faster.  Since I started doing photography full time I now do my own post production. It’s definitely a lot of fun, but I have to be careful not to rely on it fully and do as much in camera as I possibly can.

GlamModelz Magazine When selecting Models, Makeup Artists and Hair Stylist for any given project, what qualities do you look for and what process do you go through? Victoria: I select my Makeup Artist same way I select my Models. After viewing their portfolio I invite them for a short shoot and want to see them in action. That is how I met our makeup artist Ashley, from Make Up Your Mind. She had the talent and creativity, motivation and excitement about the project, and style that matched my vision.

Tell me about your background…how did you get started in Photography? Victoria: We never planned to have a photo studio. Yes, we liked taking pictures, but never thought much of it. That is until we got stationed in Whidbey Island, Washington. There is not much more to do here besides camping and hiking, and I am a city kinda gal!
My husband’s first job in the Navy had been a photographer and he suggested we try out photography as a hobby. We started out by inviting friends over to the house to practice different lighting techniques and posing. When I look at those photos today I cringe, but back then we thought they were great!

I’ve also taken photography classes from New York Institute of Photography and Penn Foster, and try to go to as many seminars as I possibly can. Recently I attended The Pin-Up-Alooza with Mike Long and Light it, Shoot it, Retouch it Live with Scott Kelby. Both taught me a lot and were so much fun!

GlamModelz Magazine: Why Glamour and Art?  What other genre’s and styles interest you?  Victoria: The world of glamour and seduction always interested me. To me it’s easy to bring out the sexy side out of a woman, and I am proud to be able to give that confidence to the clients that walk through my door. I feel that Glamour and Art closely relate to Fantasy, Gothic/Industrial and Horror genre’s and I like to mix them into one.

GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a photographer, to capture your “best shot”? Victoria: I’m a loyal Nikon shooter and my D700 is always within reach.  The lens that I use the most and find to be the most versatile is the 70-200mm f/2.8. It gives me freedom to move away from the subject for a full frame shots and still be able to zoom in enough for close ups. My in studio light set up is Alien Bees by Paul. C. Buff that I absolutely love.

GlamModelz Magazine: Paid vs. TF* shoots – What are your views and preferences? Victoria: I don’t mind doing TFCD shoots at all with right models and for my personal projects. But at the same time I don’t believe that modeling and getting a CD is where the relationship should end. I am a true believer in mutual promotion. I always promote the model I have worked with and give her credit and expect the same from them.

GlamModelz Magazine: How would you best describe your personal style?   Victoria: Deviantly sexy. I like to push limits, even with customers to a certain extend.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your photography?  Other goals?   Victoria: One of the goals this year is to expand the studio and submit my work for publication. That is why it is so exciting for me to be published in a GlamModelz Magazine. I am both humbled and honored to be able to share my passion with such a wide audience. Some of my long term goals are to become one of the most sought after boudoir photographers in the area.

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models/MUA’s/Stylists, etc have to work with you?  Victoria: In a model I don’t always look for the prettiest face. Attitude and confidence is what I value the most. The sexiest thing for a woman is her self esteem and being true to who she is. Not being held back by what society deems right or wrong… think for yourself.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new, female photographers who want to shoot glamour and art?  Victoria:  Love what you do, but don’t forget to try new things. Learn from other photographers and don’t be afraid to make mistakes or break the rules. Sometime the winning shot just happens. But most of all trust your instincts.

GlamModelz Magazine: Why Glamour /Beauty? What other genre’s and styles interest you? Josh: I really enjoy photographing Cityscapes at night, getting the flares and colors of streetlights and buildings make such great images and really make great wall art. The fact that you can make some one look so beautiful as well as make them feel good about them self is the best feeling which builds my love for why I mostly photograph Glamour/beauty.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a photographer? Josh: I am inspired by all photographers who have been able to make a good living in the industry. I get inspired by other photographers work all the time. The thing that keeps me going is the satisfaction of my clients

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could? Josh: The biggest challenge in the industry is getting your name out there. Networking with others is key. I would not change a thing about how I see the industry.

GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your “best shot”? Josh: I always need my beauty dish and or soft boxes with me at every glamour shoot, and whats a glamour shoot without a fan blowing!

GlamModelz Magazine: Paid vs. TF* shoots – What are your views and preferences? Josh: Paid is the way to go, I feel that photographers deserve to get paid for the hard work we put out to make someone look good. In the end it is our image that is getting models signed to agencies and money in there pocket. Yet Im not totally against TF work because if I didn’t have models help me out in the beginning I would not be where I am today with my portfolio. If a model comes to a photographer to shoot, the model should pay, same if a photographer asks a model to shoot, that model should get some form of payment.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a photographer? Josh: My parents have always been an inspiration to me in everything I do. I am also inspired by other photographers work as well.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your photography? Other goals? Josh: My goal is to one day have an actual store front. I want to be able to have a one stop shop where people can get amazing photography and top of the line music recording done. I want to monopolize the entertainment market.

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models/MUA’s/Stylists, etc have to work with you? Josh: The one thing I look for in every person I network with is an outgoing personality and an understanding of how important we are to each others future in the industry. I work with anyone, if your new or tenured I respect what you do and will give you a chance to shine with me as long as you have an artistic eye or passion for what you do.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur photographers who want to shoot glamour? Josh: The biggest thing is learn your posing and lighting, without those skills you really cannot make it far. The more practice you can get with photographing friends and family the better. I taught my self everything I know. Never give up!

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Josh: The best feeling is when you are out in public and someone you do not know sees you and asks for your autograph or praises you on work they have seen from you. That keeps me going!

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to shoot glamour? Josh: Make sure you have the wardrobe for it and select the right photographer for the style you want to portray in your portfolio. I always recommend setting up a pre shoot meeting with your photographer to talk over ideas and look at a portfolio of their work. Also bring in images from magazines you like so the photographer has a style idea first hand. Photographers are visual people so sometimes we need to see what your looking for.

GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Josh: I love music! I have a full recording studio set up that local artist can come and record there mix tapes in.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you? Josh: I am a self taught photographer, I have had no school training in photography.

GM: Sallie, I am so pleased to give our readers the opportunity to hear you express, in your own words, what Visual Advantages actually is, and offer a background to learn about your services. How was Visual Advantages brought to life?
VA: I never had any intention of starting a business, actually. I started out working as a freelance photo stylist with multiple photographers in the Dallas area – styling models. I felt really lucky to be working with so many unbelievably talented people, especially during a time when the amateur photographer is rampant. Unlike the average consumer, I respect the real talent and the passion of the true professional photographer.

Over time, people started coming to me asking for photographers, or they assumed I was a photographer. It was a common mistake, and I would happily introduce them to the right photographer for their needs, as well as style their shoot myself. Then I realized this could be a real business, thus Visual Advantages was born.

GM: Excellent story! Amazing how our talents and gifts for doing certain things can ultimately pave the way for our success. You’ve worked with so many; what genre’s and styles interest you most and work best for your services?
VA: As someone working in a creative profession, you will always fight the need for money vs. the need to express yourself for the sake of expression. Hopefully one will work with the other, but many times they collide. As a new business, I have been focusing on commercial photography – fashion, food, and product. But as people get to know me, as well as my business, I hope that will change, and I will be commissioned to do shoots for the sake of art.As a whole, I think Dallas needs to expand its artistic style and be open to photography as a true form of art. I think we have seen way too much glamour and pin-up. But instead of just complaining about what is happening, I have to be part of the change. I am here to create my own movement and make a name for myself as a real artist in Dallas. While L.A. or NY is great, and we can learn from them, we also need to create our own form of expression.

GM: I agree about the fashion industry in Dallas, and being a former glamour model – I would say that what we know in the U.S. about glamour – is not all that Glamour Modeling really is. Time…and progress will tell what becomes of it. I do hope you and those who share your passion are able to make the effective changes and impact that you desire. It is so needed. With that said, you have obviously seen some great work that has enlightened you about the process and industry. What or who, specifically, inspires you?
VA: I am inspired by history, art, as well as fashion. All of it goes back to humanity and our need for power, love, money, beauty, and God.

GM: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could?
VA: I think any industry where amateurs can pick up an expensive camera and just start shooting away will always fight to be respected. But part of the problem is that the consumer is not educated enough in photography to spot the fakes. It is my job to educate the consumer and help them through this process. I am still learning, but I know I will get better over time.

I also think photographers and stylists need to quit using local designers’ clothings in their portfolio shoots. I am part of the problem, but have since stopped. I will now only style shoots with clothing that has already launched its campaign, is currently in stores, or has come from a thrift store. Local designers need to be commissioning and paying for their own shoots and paying a fair market value.

GM: What equipment is essential for you to capture the quality that you promote?
VA: As a producer, I rely on my photographers to have the best equipment possible for the shoot. But the equipment is not just the camera. It is also the environment, the natural lighting (or lack thereof), as well as the subject. Planning a shoot is very time consuming task, and I thrive on it.As a fashion stylist, having access to amazing clothing is always a huge help! I am always looking for funky shops, amazing thrift stores, and anyone with a great closet. Art and beauty is not just confined to expensive designer stores, though it does help!

GM: Sounds like you really love what you do, Sallie. What is your ultimate GOAL for Visual Advantages?
VA: My goal for Visual Advantages is first and foremost to be a well respected Dallas photography company in the United States. I want people to know my name, as well as know my company’s name. Profits will always be important, but they will always be secondary to respect and integrity.As for where it goes and what it becomes as a business, I am slowly letting this business define and create itself. “I kind of see it like work of art. You have a canvas that is blank, and little by little, you add color, shape, and form. While you can plan all along, it will never look quite like you imagined!” <—- Love that!!

GM:How Fabulous! May I quote you? I guess I just did. Haha. Any other personal or professional goals to share?
VA: To continually expand my portfolio, meet amazing talent, and grow! I also need to continue to travel, not because I do not love my fellow Dallas-ites, but because I need to let other parts of the country see that there is amazing talent here in Texas.

GM: Absolutely. In Dallas, and abroad…Who are your clients?
VA: My clients are typically e-commerce sites, and I am also slowly gaining publications.

GM: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date…
VA: I just returned from L.A. where I got to work with some great talent for modelwirenetwork.com. The website did not dictate the type of photography, or what we created, so it was pure creative freedom. Bliss!

GM: What advice do you have for Photographers, Models, Stylists and other industry professionals who wish to succeed in commercial photography?
VA: I would say you always should have a goal. I see a lot of photographers who are willing to shoot just about anything, and a lot of stylists who will work with anyone. In order to be respected, you need to set a standard. I am not saying you need to be a snob, but working for the sake of working is fruitless.

Also, if you are a model who is willing to pose in the nude or in lingerie, you really need to be careful. Not just for safety reasons, but also because the majority of the nude photography is not art, but verging on pornography. Once you go there, it is hard to come back and be taken seriously as a model who can do commercial or fashion work.

Also, treat each other with respect. This is a small industry, and if you treat people badly, word spreads quickly, and you will be pigeon-holed as an amateur, and all you will be left shooting is babies and weddings!

GM: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you?
VA: I am producer and stylist who couldn’t care less about what I look like; I am hopelessly happy with myself and who I am as a person. I am more interested in creating the art and fantasy. Sometimes I even forget what I look like until I look in the mirror.

So if you expect to meet some fashionista, sorry to disappoint you!

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started! Tell me about your background…how did you get started in Photography? Tav:

Fast forward 5 or 6 years. A friend asked me to take some photos with her Nikon D40 which was an entry level camera. I was amazed at how much it reminded me of the film days. It was so much less frustrating! I decided to get the Nikon D60 (which was a step up). I really started shooting more seriously as a hobby at this point. Facebook allowed all of my friends and coworkers from my past and present to view my photos, and the reception was wonderful. Many people encouraged me to start shooting portraits and weddings; and like an arrogant brat, I thought to myself, “Sure! Why not? It’s easy money!”

How wrong I was. I had no idea how much I DIDN’T know. I was blessed with patient clients early on. The work I turned in to them should be a crime. Luckily, I shot everything on the cheap or for free, so I suppose that’s why I haven’t been sued! I quickly started researching everything from technical manuals on the process of photography, to composition, to the business side, and really got my act together. Researching the different photography industries really humbled me – it made me realize just how little I knew. I was embarrassed by my own arrogance. Now I’m much humbler, and I’m still learning. I’m teaching myself more advanced concepts. Lighting being my number one priority as of this interview. I see big improvements with each shoot. My next one is bound to better than my last.

GlamModelz Magazine: Why Glamour /Beauty? What other genre’s and styles interest you? Tav: The really cool part about glamour is the thought that goes into each shot. I’m used to shooting portraits; pose the person to make them look good, let them be themselves so personality shows, etc. With glamour, you have to sell a feeling, or mood, or feature something be it a product or look, or all of the above. It’s quite the challenge. The other part I really enjoy about it is the technical aspect. How are you going to use your lighting equipment to achieve the look you’re after? What are the optimal camera settings that will work best with the lighting? How can you use your equipment to supplement the environment you’re in and vice versa?

Other genres I love include landscape and nature photography. I also have an eerie draw towards urban decay. I love shooting weddings and portraits. I don’t classify myself as a specific type of photographer. I feel there’s way too much beauty in the world to just work in one medium. Where I excel is combining my different passions – a newlywed couple in a sprawling landscape, or the juxtaposition of a beautiful model in a grungy warehouse. For these I like to work with HDR (High Dynamic Range) to separate myself from the pack. These are the photos my clients absolutely fall in love with, and they happen to be the photos that I pat myself on the back for.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a photographer? Tav: As far as other photographers go, I find a lot of inspiration in other wedding photographers, particularly on the Digital Wedding Forum (www.dwf.com). A lot of people may think of wedding photographers as hoaky, but it really requires every ounce of photographic knowledge to do a great job, and that industry has changed a lot in the past few years. You need to be a photojournalist, a glamour photographer, a portrait artist, and a landscape artist. All under mixed lighting conditions from bright sunlight to dim reception lights, and literally everything in between.

Fashion and glamour photographers in general are a great influence as well. I love flipping through magazines and examining the ads. Successful glamour requires an absolute mastery of light and composition. I’m in awe of what these commercial photographers do on a daily basis. When I look at their photos, I try to replicate their lighting set-ups in my head. I try to guess how many lights they used, how they used them, and what light modifiers they used to achieve the masterpiece I’m looking at. I think of myself as a documenter. I’m a natural observer. A lot of my best shots are candids. I’m very selective with my shutter. I don’t just click away just because I can. I wait, bide my time, and capture a moment. When it comes to landscapes and cityscapes, I pay attention to what everybody else ignores. So to answer the question, the world around me inspires me. I’m on the outside looking in, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could? Tav: I personally don’t face too many challenges in the glamour industry. I’m quite content providing models with portfolio shots. If, however, I wanted to break into commercial or fashion photography, I would face many challenges. The business end would be the greatest challenge.

The amount of preparation just to meet with a commercial client is enough to make my head spin. Then if you land that job, your creativity is limited by the art director. When your creativity is managed by someone else, it doesn’t feel like your work anymore. I’ve never landed a commercial gig, but I found that working in the advertising industry as a graphic designer was a task of futility. The final product was never what I started out with. It was simply the command of the art director. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. I imagine the higher-end glamour industry would be the same way.

GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your “best shot”? Tav: Prime lenses! More specifically, prime lenses above 50 mm. Anything less would give much unnecessary distortion. The last thing you want to do with a beautiful model is to exaggerate the length and size of their limbs! I only shoot with primes for glamour and portraits. They’re much sharper than zoom lenses.

For lighting I use up to 6 strobes. All off-camera. I never use on-camera flash. I love using my 24×36 softbox as my keylight, and use snoots and grids for hair and background. I have been known to use the occasional umbrella, but only if I have to light a large portion of the frame. I’m a Nikon guy, so I shoot with the D700 and all Nikkor lenses. I don’t believe that one brand is better than the other; it’s just personal preference.

Gear aside, the absolute most important tool is a good model. No matter how you dress up a photo with lighting and props, it’s all for nothing if your model can’t act. That’s right. Act. The most subtle of facial expressions can make or break a photo. The model sets the mood and tone for the photo. If they can’t convey a feeling, your lighting and lenses will not be able to compensate. You could be shooting with a $45,000 Hasselblad for all I care. You will not get the shot without a good model.

GlamModelz Magazine: Paid vs. TF* shoots – What are your views and preferences? Tav: This is an interesting question. My view on this topic is that I want to get paid. I put a lot of love and effort into each photo and would like to get compensated accordingly. However, the trade arrangement is cool for two reasons: 1. Without the constraints of a business transaction, you can really take your time with each photo: experiment with lighting, outfits, and locations. This is crucial if you’re learning how to use your gear, and I highly recommend this approach to anyone learning something as intimidating and finicky as lighting. Unless you can do the math equations in your head for how much power you need for each light in each situation, work for free. When starting out, anyway. 2. You build portfolio material.

Once you know your gear and you have enough portfolio material, NOW you can charge. Remember, many models have limited income and therefore can barely afford to pay a photographer for that one shot that is going to give them the slight possibility of being picked out among thousands of other models for that one big break they’re all pining for. This industry is much tougher on models than it is on photographers, and I feel it’s my ethical responsibility to NOT waste their time and money while I’m futzing around with my gear. That’s my personal choice, and I’d like to think many photographers feel the same way, however, human nature dictates that this isn’t always the case.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your photography? Other goals? Tav: My ultimate dream is to become a staff photographer for National Geographic. Each one of those photographers produce pure visual nirvana, and I’d love to one day count myself among their ranks. People tell me that my nature photography is worthy of Nat Geo, so I know I could attain that goal should I set my mind to it. However, I say it’s a “dream” because I’m not working towards that at this point, and don’t really intend to in the near future. Operative word being “near.” I’m actually quite busy and happy with my wedding and portrait business, and excited for my new glamour avenue.

For a more “present” goal, I’d like to really delve deeper into glamour the way I’ve done with weddings and portraits. It’s another branch of business I’d like to expand into. Like I said before, I’m content providing models with portfolio material. I don’t intend to shoot for Vogue or Calvin Klein. Unless, of course, an opportunity presents itself. Though I’m not going to hunt down that opportunity.

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models/MUA’s/Stylists, etc have to work with you? Tav: It depends on the purpose of the shoot. If a MUA wants to show off his or her portfolio, the model would be a cog in that machine; meaning the make-up is the subject; not the model. I would work with the MUA to achieve what she or he wants to accomplish in terms of mood and composition. The same applies to a stylist.

Models need a little more than that. Like I said before; a model needs to know how to act. They need to be able to show a wide gamut of emotions with the slightest of facial expressions. Forgive the cliche, but when I say, “Be seductive,” I want to see that slight squint of their eyes and that slight parting of the lips that conveys seduction.

All three: models, MUAs, and stylists, however, need to be open to my interpretation of their ideas. That philosophy works both ways. I’m open to their ideas. In fact, I welcome it. When someone has a previsualization of what their photos will look like, it helps me to add my spin to it, and we all walk away happy.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur photographers who want to shoot glamour? Tav: There are several hats each photographer needs to wear: artist, technician, business man/woman. If you’re taking your photography seriously enough, chances are pretty good you have the artist side secure, though it doesn’t hurt to seek out inspiration and study the work you admire.

Know your gear. Know how your camera works. Learn the limitations of your camera and lenses. Learn how to sculpt with light. Learn how your lights work. You need to be able to predict what your settings will do before you take that test shot. Otherwise, you’re wasting someone’s time and money. That’s a quick way to earn a bad reputation.

Learn the business end. What products will you offer? What services will you offer? How will you price your products and services? Figuring out your prices is probably the toughest part. Learn how to use spreadsheets to keep track of pricing, sales, and invoicing. And don’t forget marketing! How do you plan on marketing your services? And that’s just the tip of the business iceberg. Don’t fear, though. There’s books on all this stuff. Read up, sucka!

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Tav: My biggest accomplishment to date was the launch of my business. I made something out of nothing all by myself. I taught myself everything and did this on my own. Nothing beats that feeling. Of course, friends and family were there all along the way to encourage me, and that was, and still is, my rock. Actually, being featured in this interview is another big one! Having my work recognized and being interviewed speaks quite loudly about the quality of my work, and is the ultimate compliment. For that, I thank you. Pride is a big issue for me. It’s my strength and also my Achilles’ heel. There isn’t one photo that leaves my studio that I wouldn’t stand behind. I refuse to show clients anything done halfway. Each time a client receives an album, or sees their child’s portrait, they just gush and thank me. My ego inflates to the point that you need to butter the doorways just to fit my head through. Then I see a photo by masters like Jerry Ghionis or Yervant, and I’m back down to earth. The masters keep me humble.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to shoot glamour? Tav: You’d better have a thick skin. People are going to tear you apart based on your looks. Many photographers and modeling agencies have grown insensitive; many are superbossy. You have to be able to take the hit and realize your looks are intended to sell something, whether it’s a mood or a product. These comments aren’t meant to be a personal slight against you. Maybe some are. Who knows? Either way, you need to have a think skin. Also, practice different facial expressions and emotions in the mirror. Let your face get used to the sensation of specific expressions so that when you’re behind the camera, you know you’re showing the right expression. Remember, you’re paying a photographer, if you can’t get your expressions right, you’re wasting your own time and money. The photographer isn’t the only one who can waste time in a photo shoot.

GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Tav: It’s funny you should ask. I also teach 4th grade. It’s my higher calling. It’s my way to contribute to society in a way that photography could never do. Obviously, both are powerful in their own ways, and both have had major impacts on the world.

I think of my dual careers as a yin and yang. Teaching offers a satisfaction that photography never could, and photography offers a satisfaction that teaching never could. I could never live with one over the other. If teaching was the only thing I was doing, I would grow restless since I’ve always been an artist in one way or another. On the flip side, if I was only doing photography, I would probably lose my passion for it as it would now be seen as “work.” Right now, I don’t consider photography work since I love it so much. I could see that changing if I was photographing to pay the rent. My landscapes and cityscapes would definitely take a back seat, they may even wait in the trunk! If I don’t get to shoot for pleasure and create art, I get VERY restless and cranky.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you? Tav: I’m a huge music fan. I love going into a record store (yes, a record store) and buying old vinyl records. I could spend hours going through bins searching for gems. Especially ‘80s metal and old country. I always get funny looks as I bring an Iron Maiden record alongside Waylon Jennings to the counter. Totally weird, I know, but I’m a man of many moods.

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started! Tell me about your background…Why Pin-up and how did you get started in pinup art? Cliff: I started shooting glamour in 2006. After reading a book by Kevin Ames, “Photoshop, the art of photographing beautiful women”, in which there were several follow-along examples, which utilized pinup models, I was hooked on that genre.

One of my very earliest models was a devotee of Gil Elvgren, one of the two greatest pinup artists to ever put brush to canvas. Together, she and I did many shoots, which were inspired by his works, always trying to put our own twist on the stories he told.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as an artist? Cliff: Aside from the afore-mentioned Elvgren, there is Alberto Varga (later Alberto Vargas), who illustrated for both Esquire (as Varga) and, later, Playboy (as Vargas). As a teenager, I remember admiring his style and the grace of his work and of his models (when I could spirit my Dad’s Playboys out of the house). More recently, I’ve been really inspired by (in no particular order) Robert Alvarado, Sam Rambo, Chuckarelei, Quintin, Robert Davidson, and GW Burns.

GlamModelz Magazine: Are there any special techniques or processes you would care to share with others interested in Pinup Art? Cliff: My most valuable asset is my ability to make a young lady, who knows nothing about me, feel comfortable in the space of a few minutes in the studio. Almost every time a model comes to me for the first time, she knows little or nothing about shooting pinups.

I’m proud of the fact that we have her oooh-ing and ahhhhing in short order and the results show a great deal of enjoyment. I think that’s the biggest attraction about pinups is that there is no serious side to them. It’s all pure joy.

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could? Cliff: Anybody who knows me knows that my biggest challenge is “flakes”. I, like most of my contemporaries, have had many young ladies who are over-the-top excited about doing a photo shoot when they book it, but somehow lose all that enthusiasm by the time the shoot date arrives and either they don’t arrive or call or they call the night before and cancel.

As far as technical and artistic challenges, I constantly come up against images that drop my jaw and make me think, “Why can’t I shoot like that?” The answer is always, of course, that I can. I just have to find the time and resources and apply myself, while still maintaining a living (I make nothing from glamour photography).

GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour photographer, to capture your “best shot”? Cliff: It sounds corny, but the most valuable “equipment” I have is my eye. The camera gear I use is Nikon, but I could do just as well with Canon or any other brand of equipment. My lighting is Alien Bees, but I could do just as well with other brands. I use Photoshop extensively, but with other software, I would figure out a way to achieve the results I want. However, if I can’t see what makes a good shot, I could be shooting and editing with anything I wanted and still getting nothing but snapshots.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your photography? Other goals? Cliff: My mantra is, “If it ain’t fun, don’t do it.” I’ll continue to live by that mantra as long as possible and apply it to my pinup photography. To that end, I am constantly on the lookout for cool ideas for my next shoot. I’m greatly helped in that respect by most of my models, since we collaborate on what to shoot. Often, we will shoot the model’s concepts, tossing me an occasional bone.

My greatest models always show up with a bucket full of ideas and a bag full of outfits to make them work.

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models/MUA’s/Stylists, etc have to work with you? Cliff: Personable comes immediately to mind. If you can stand in front of me for two minutes and do a multitude of silly things, as a model, you’ll probably come away from a shoot with wonderful images.

As a MUAH, you should have a feel for the looks of the 1940’s and 1950’s. It helps if you’ve done pinup shoots, but it’s much more important to be able to “feel” the genre.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur photographers who want to shoot Pinup style glamour? Cliff: Study, study, study. I still take my Elvgren book into a quiet corner and look for little features in his images that I hadn’t noticed, before, but that make the story richer and fuller. Elvgren’s work was all about the beauty of the model and the story he was telling.

Next, learn to work with models. Get an account on Modelmayhem and on Facebook and continually press for new opportunities to shoot. Never fail to show up, regardless of the reason. Flaking is inexcusable and there are very few people in this community who will recommend a flake to their associates.

Finally, always look at an image with an eye to how you would improve it. Imitation is a form of flattery that very few people appreciate. Come up with your own ideas and you’ll have models pounding down your door to get into your photos.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Cliff: I’d have to defer that question to my contemporaries. I don’t feel I have any significant accomplishments. I value every experience I’ve had as another opportunity to accomplish an image that is a “cut above” what came before.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to shoot with you? Cliff: Please, please, please talk to me. If I have to track you down to find out if you are coming or not, I assume that means you have lost interest. A simple phone call or text message goes a long way to reassuring me.

Models with whom I’ve shot many times still take the time to drop me a line every once in a while just to say hi and I do likewise.

Next, anything you don’t bring will not show up in our shoot. What I mean by this is, while shooting, we’ll be constantly discussing items of wardrobe, makeup, hair, accessories, props, etc. Every time you say, “I have one of those at home” is a time we’ll have to figure something else out. Not that you should bring the kitchen sink, but keep an open mind about the things around you. Look at things from a standpoint of how they might fit into a cute shot.

View yourself as a model. This may sound obvious, but if you take yourself for granted you won’t be able to make the best images possible with the photographers who you are working with. Remember, you are just as lucky to work with them as they are to work with you.

A woman is truly beautiful when she balances physical and spiritual beauty, taking neither for granted and taking neither too seriously.

GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Cliff: In my professional life, I am a yacht designer of 40+ years. In that capacity, I’ve learned to operate 3-d modeling and rendering software, which I now use to create virtual sets, which can be seen in several of my images, especially those done with Katie Riebesehl.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you? Cliff: I’m a Teddy Bear. Anyone who has shot with me will tell you that I do everything I can to make them comfortable and their comfort and safety are the most important feature in any shoot.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us more about your personal background, what other interests are you involved? EvasCreation: I am currently completing my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Walden University.

GlamModelz Magazine: Who are your clients and target audience? Evas Creation: Currently, my clients and target audience includes demographics for gender and age differences as follows:
Female target audience totals at 65% range overall.
Male target audience totals at 31% range overall.
Female age difference that are significantly worth mentioning; averages from ages
(18-24) at an 18% rate. Female ages (25-34) averages at a 29% rate and finally female ages that range between (35-44) averages at an 11% rate.

GlamModelz Magazane: Do you create pieces that a customer designs or gives ideas about? EvasCreation: Most definitely I do take customers ideas very seriously. My clients’ ideas and schemas are extremely vital in my company. I always encourage my dear clients to have a say in what it is they desire by inquiring details such as the foundation of stones, colors, methods, and what event is it meant for?

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started! Tell me about your background…how did you get started in Body Painting? Tim: I started in the industry doing theatrical makeup. I was a stage actor in San Diego and we were all responsible for our own makeup for the performances. I became the go to guy for makeup design and it kind of took off from there. As far as my first body paint job, back in about 1988 or so, I painted a gal up for Halloween. It was torso up, she wore a leopard print bra top and I had painted a whitewashed stone look on her. It was totally off the cuff, she just flipped thru a book of ideas I had laying out and I went for it. That was the only BP job I did until joining Model Mayhem in 2008.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a body painter? Tim: -There are some pretty fantastic body paint artists out there that have been a huge inspiration to me as I’ve started turning my attention more to this type of work. Joanne Gair, Pashur, Patrick Leis and Roustan to name a few.

GlamModelz Magazine: How long does the average body panting take? Tim: – Some body painters can take up to 12 hours or more to create the work you see on the girls. I haven’t done any type of work that has that kind of detail yet, plus I’d be hard pressed to find someone who would pay me the kind of money doing a project that large. I average about 2 to 2 ½ hours on my work personally. I like to put in as much detail as I can in that time and it seems to be about the time most photographers will feel comfortable giving me to do the work.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tim, we assume you can not just use “any old paint” Do your painting supplies have any ill effects to skin? Are your paints hyperallergic? Has anyone ever had an adverse reaction to the paints? Tim: All the materials I use are made specifically for the body painter, they are water based and wash off easily in the shower. The only problem I’ve ever run into with it is that the reds seem to really like to stain the skin (anything with red coloring is always like that) but I have the models put on a barrier crème, much like the “invisible glove” product, and I’ve had great results. I’ve never heard from anyone I’ve worked with that they’ve had any “bad” reactions to the paint.-

GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could? Tim: Well really, the only challenge I’ve come up against is just getting the work J It’s amazing to me how many people gush over the work I’ve done, or just the idea of body paint itself, but just don’t jump into the idea of getting it done themselves. And in terms of the cost, well, I’m insanely affordable for this type of look and still it’s few and far between when I pick up a gig. I don’t really know what I could change. I mean, I’d love to be working more in this particular field, and I’d love to be more sought after. But then again, who wouldn’t

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your body paintings and makeup? Other goals? Tim: I guess I kind of covered that one. My goal is to be a known artist and to have more opportunities to do the work. I keep pretty busy as a Glamor makeup artist and I really enjoy that work as well and slowly but surely I am building a great rep in that area.-

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models/Photographers/Stylists, etc have to work with you? Tim: I’m a pretty casual guy and I enjoy having fun at what I do, really none of us should be doing this unless there’s a passion to be creating something awesome. My hope is that anyone that I work with has a joy for the work that they’re doing as well, and can have a great time working with me on any given project. I don’t like working with people who have an attitude that they’re the best thing to come along since sliced bread and it’s an inconvenience for them to be “giving” their precious time to you. Fortunately the folks I’ve worked with so far have been pretty awesome and many of the models and photographers that I have worked with have become great friends.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur body painters who want to work in this unique art form? Tim: My first rule of thumb is this: Always be aware of the models comfort level. Never ask a model to do anything that they’re not comfortable doing. If they want to wear a bra and panties and have you paint over or around it, then that’s what you need to do. Don’t expect that they will just come in and strip naked for you “just because”. Never ever put your hands on a model unless it’s necessary (i.e., if you need to rest your hand against them while painting a small detail) If you need to do that, ask them politely, don’t assume you have free reign to touch anywhere you want. For a lot of the work you’re doing, the only thing that should be pressing against them is a sponge or brush.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Tim: Well here’s the biggest thing for me…I have an excellent reputation with the models I work with, and that means the world to me. I’ve had models tell me that they feel more comfortable with me in this type of situation then they’ve been with anyone else. I don’t “stare” at them, I don’t touch without asking and I don’t ever say anything inappropriate. At all times you should treat women with respect. There is a misconception that models who want to do nudes or body painting are loose or trashy, and that’s just not the case.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to be painted? Tim: Always let your artist know what you’re comfortable doing, and know what’s expected from you before you get to the shoot. Some people have no problem with total nudity and most often that produces the best overall look, but again, it is not always necessary. Some women prefer to have some type of nipple covers and G-strings. Don’t ever let your body painter talk you in to anything you don’t want to do…if they push the issue, they’re most likely just a “GWB” (guy with brush) and are there just to see you naked….it happens.

GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to body painting, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Tim: Well, I’m a sculptor and a Special makeup effects artist as well. Very cool work. I received my training under Dick Smith, who won the Academy Award for his makeup work in “Amadeus’ and is considered the “Godfather” of modern makeup effects.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you? Tim: I’m a singer / songwriter, and an actor. I love to spend time in the Gym and….get ready for it…I love Zumba I’ve been happily married for 28 years and have a very supportive wife. In fact I’m only doing body painting because I sat down with my wife and asked what she felt about my doing this type of work, and she said…”go for it, I trust you”. And let me tell you, that trust is well placed

Jesse Holley and Dallas fashion designers are showing their support for a new non-profit organization in North Texas.

Jesse Holley, of the Dallas Cowboys, is hosting a gala for the North Texas Thyroid Awareness Foundation Inc (NTTAF) on September 23, 2011, 6:30pm at the Fairmont Hotel 1717 N. Akard St. Dallas, TX 75201. While supporting this important cause, the gala will also showcase two Dallas based designers’ lines: Shemara Couture and Distinctive Attire.

The gala marks the entrance of the North Texas Thyroid Awareness Foundation Inc into the non-profit landscape. Along with celebrating the organization’s launch, the ultimate goal of the gala is to bring people together whose lives have been impacted by thyroid disease. While increasing awareness, the evening promises to entertain with a fashion show produced by Jan Strimple Productions.

Future events of the NTTAF will reflect their philosophy of entertaining the eyes while enlightening the mind.

Designer Shemara Jeyarajah of Shemara Couture lives with thyroid disease making her involvement with the gala a natural fit. Her customized fall collection of cocktail and evening wear will be featured in the show, allowing the audience to enjoy her fine use of fabric, joy of color and her eye for exquisite detail.

Henry Coleman, creator of Distinctive Attire, will showcase highlights from his luxury menswear fashion collection specializing in Bespoke-Couture. Distinctive Attire creates refreshingly different menswear with an eye on the prize: to evoke the essence of it’s wearers’ character.

While raising awareness, the organization creates an avenue for people to meet and reach out to others that are dealing with the same or similar disease. NaKisha Ortiz, founder of the North Texas Thyroid Awareness foundation Inc is a survivor of Hashimotos Thyroiditus. With the outreach of the NTTAF, NaKisha hopes to position thyroid testing into the preventative mindset of our annual health screenings.

GlamModelz Magazine: What first got you interested in hair and make-up? Jodi: As a child, my mom was one of the top Mary Kay saleswomen in the country. So, needless to say we had more makeup around the house than one little girl knew what to do with. Often you could find me hiding in the makeup closet coming up with my own versions of five year old glam. And then there was Carolyn, my moms hair dresser. She was amazing, a tall woman with bright red permed hair and a fantastic loud laugh. This was the 80′s , she was at the height of fashion and I thought she was it. She had the best stories of what sounded like the most glamours life ever, it was what I wanted to be.

GlamModelz Magazine: What can models and photographers expect in working with you? Jodi: Well, I am pretty laid back and fun to work with. If you can dream it up I will be more than happy to make it happen. I always have extra hair and accessories on hand to play with. I love to help and never mind pitching in on holding a reflector or light. Actually, if I ever get tired doing makeup I may have a lucrative career as a camera assistant…haha

GlamModelz Magazine: I noticed you do a lot of work with Julian Wilde, can you tell us what that is like? Jodi: Well you walk off the elevator on the top floor of this historic building downtown you are instantly transported to some palace in Paris, crown molding everywhere, gorgeous little things tucked around the room, a grand ballroom with a magical stage and the architecture will drop your mouth wide open. Then you are greeted by Julian Wilde, with a giant “HELLLOOO!!”. He will make you a drink and give you the run down of the days shoot. On the way back to the makeup room I will always stop by the office where Raven Wilde sits behind her giant marble desk always looking beautiful. We will look all her new amazing finds, she has a mind-blowing collection of accessories, shoes and clothing. Her shoe wall alone will make any red blooded woman giddy with excitement, floor to ceiling shelves of the coolest shoes ever made.

Once the model is out of makeup and hair, Raven will dress them and then Julian works his magic with lighting and fantastical sets, all of which he dreams up and builds himself. It is not rare to find Julian on a fifteen foot ladder, painting, or constructing something right before a shoot all in Versace I might add. A shoot with the Wildes can take anywhere from two hours to all day, either way it is always a great time. Watching and listening to Julian work is priceless.

GlamModelz Magazine: What is the most extreme request you have gotten to date? Jodi: Well…I do do a lot of extreme looks, but the one that comes to mind first was painting a model head to toe in white paint, every inch of her had to be white, EVERYTHING!! Lets just say we got real close that day.

GlamModelz Magazine: Any advise for aspiring makeup artists?

Jodi: SHOOT with AS many people as possible! Different styles, different levels, different models it all equals a diverse portfolio and each shoot can be a huge learning experience. Practice! Practice! Practice on anyone who will let you, chase them down if you have to. Do not be afraid to play around with makeup. Not everything has to be extreme to make a statement, sometimes a little can make just as much of one. Also, there are so many different makeup manufactures out there, don’t be afraid to check them out, you may find something your kit just can’t live without.

You will not always get paid, especially at first. Doing trade shoots is a great way to meet people and build your portfolio. If you show up with a great attitude and put some effort in what you are doing you will be surprised how fast you can build a good reputation. On the other hand if you are late, “flakey”, gossipy or just uninterested you will also be surprised how fast that reputation can turn into a bad one. Just remember even though you are having fun it is still a job and at the end of the day a polite professional attitude will win out and make everyone’s life a little easier.

GlamModelz Magazine: Where did you receive your training? Jodi: My formal training was done at The International Academy in Florida, where I received my license for hair, skin and nails. Although, I started young making up and cutting hair on my Barbies then friends.

As a huge believer in continuing education, I have attended countless classes learning from the industries top professionals. Continuing education is worth every penny (sometimes it’s even free!) because the knowledge you learn is so helpful in your craft and opens you up to new ideas.

GlamModelz Magazine: If you could dream of any gig in this industry what would it be? Jodi: Funny you ask this because it is actually a question I have thought about a lot lately. The Northwest photographers and clients I have worked with have defiantly kept me busy. They all have such different styles and visions, but I have recently found myself daydreaming of giant editorial shoots in London or Paris. I would not like to move there permanently or anything (I love Portland way too much) but a month or two long “working vacation” would just be dreamy!

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us a little about what or who inspires you? Jodi: There are so many sources to draw inspiration from that I find in my friends, photographers, models,designers, random people, magazines, nature,beauty, love, hate, music, but mostly when it comes down to it, it is the raw canvas of the subject I am working on. It may sound a little cheezy but I really do look for the beauty in everyone I work on. There is always something that is beautiful about someone, whether it be lovely eyes or seductive lips, being inspired by it paints the whole picture in my head to translate.

GlamModelz Magazine: What do you think of the industry? anything you would like to see changed? Jodi: The industry as a whole has been pretty good to me. There are so many different styles and avenues that models, photographers and Mua’s can go in, to me that keeps it interesting. Working with so many people in the industry I have run into some types that I wish would go away, 95% of people I work with are none of these types and are completely amazing, but there are those few; the gossipers, please stop. It really makes the whole shoot uncomfortable and it makes you look just as bad in the long run. It will be hard for people to trust you or even stand up for you if someone is gossiping about you at some other time. Find something else to talk about, shopping, music, unicorns, whatever..just stop. The complainers, if I have not even touched you yet and you are already complaining about things, it is not a good sign. Have some trust, even if you have not been happy with an MUA in the past. It is just a bad way to start things off, relax and have some faith, you may be surprised! And if it is totally horrible you can always just blame the MUA anyhow. FLAKES! Seriously, this could be my major pet peeve. If you have a legit reason, okay. But your grandma and dog can only die so many times. There is a lot of effort that goes into a shoot and to cancel at the last minute or just vanish all together is just not good. Then to do it over and over, even worse. Like I said at the beginning, almost all of who I work with is none of these, this is just a collective of individuals I have met over an 8 year span of time.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any personal projects you would like to do, or have done? Jodi: Yes! Recently I joined the extremely talented styling team at The National Beauty salon (www.TheNationalBeauty.com). So I am working on building up more salon work and looking into being more on the educator side of things.

Also one of the National Beauty owners Heidi and I have started our own line of accessories and feather hair extensions. It is called “Feathers and Leathers” and we are on facebook, of course! Look for us in stores around Portland and hopefully further out in the near future.

GlamModelz Magazine: Ok don’t lie, you work with one of our contributing photographers, Sam Rambo is sort of cool huh?I mean with a name like Rambo, haha Jodi: SAM?! He is actually super awesome!! Better than cool! Shooting with him is like hanging out with a really good friend. He is super laid back and open to any ideas. He has the coolest gadgets that he has made or acquired and now that he has his trusty IPAD I am pretty sure he is unstoppable. Do be ready to go to some crazy locations if you shoot outdoors with him. The last time we shot I followed him in his little red Spider sports car in my VW Bug up a dirt gravel road with 2 models in the car and dust kicking up everywhere. When we made it to the the top it was all worth it, beautiful rolling hills and those big electric generating windmills, it was all very surreal and totally worth the car wash later. You always end up with fantastic images, and some fun stories. Plus he always shoots really cool models which always makes the day go by so nice and smooth!

GlamModelz Magazine: What is the hardest thing you have had to do? Jodi: Wow, good question. Thinking back, it would probably have to be just starting out as a makeup artist. Trying to be confident but so nervous on the inside. I would always take it so hard if someone didn’t like it or a model would come out of the bathroom with completely different makeup after I did it. Always worrying if you were going to get more jobs, how much to charge ect.. It was hard in the beginning, but I learned that you just can not skip over the experience part. You have to mess up and just learn from it. Thankfully it does not happen anymore, but I am prepared if it does!

GlamModelz Magazine: I have heard a rumor that you are also in a rock band? What is that like? Jodi: I am!! It is one of my other passions in life. I started playing music at a young age and continued it to college. Now I am a bass player in an all female band called Little Volcano. It has been such an amazing experience being around so many talented women. They inspire me to be even more creative and take more chances in life. Oscar Fierro is not only a brilliant designer with a larger-than-life personality, but he is also a humanitarian. He challenges himself to create designs that are elegant, colorful, feminine and unique; and is passionate about giving back using the resources and influence he has earned in entertainment and fashion.

The following video presents the showcase of his latest designs for the Fall/Winter Season 2011 during a well-publicized and attended event,  The Celebrity Fashion Experience II, which was held in Dallas, Texas on March 31, 2011.

His amazing, glamorous and spectacular designs…leave me speechless. But the great work he does to improve the lives of others…speaks volumes.
