GlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business Hannah, and what goals have your set for your self? Elle Mae: I got started back in high school with a talent agency; I made great money doing commercials that aired nation-wide, public campaigns for Washington and Idaho, and being featured in web episodes both as an extra and as featured character. What started out as a photo shoot to gain new headshots for my agency I stumbled upon commercial modeling. With a little extra encouragement, advice, and confidence I got my foot into the door of modeling. I starting out with swim wear and fashion and later experimented with glamour and more recently implied nude. My goals have always been to challenge myself, I like to think outside the box and create images that aren’t always the same. My background as an actress has helped me immensely with facial expressions and posing; as modeling is quite similar to acting.
GlamModelz Magazine: Posing 101, any suggestions to newer models coming into the business? Elle Mae: PRACTICE! As silly as it seems practice in front of the mirror, study other images and models as well. Learn what flatters your body style, what angles work and don’t work, know how to change subtle things; your eyes, your smile, or your feet. Always throw a curve somewhere, if you can make more than one curve the better. Know your audience for the pose you’re intending to create; this will determine if you should do shots straight on or at an angle. If men are your audience straight on shots seems to indulge that, if woman are your audience for maybe a more high fashion shot put your body at an angle. Simply put sometimes the most awkward feeling pose, looks the best on camera!

GlamModelz Magazine: What has been your greatest success to date?  Elle Mae: Last winter when Sam Rambo and I won Holiday Hotties for a fun holiday concept we had shot, to see Maxim.com pasted on your photo was a great feeling. Recently Sam Rambo and I also won Pic Of The Day on ModelMayhem.com-another great moment. Sam and I sure can create some awesome photos.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with implied and nude posing? Elle Mae: If you would have asked me this question years ago when I first started I wouldn’t have had anything positive or inspiring to say, however as my modeling has progressed I have learned to love the female body. If an implied shot is done right and tasteful it can be the most amazing shot in an entire portfolio. If you’ve got it-flaunt it! Good lighting and a great photographer would help also thoughJ As a model you learn to love angles and curves and the female body is a canvas full of those, so why not highlight them?

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Elle Mae: Staying in shape has always been a personal choice for me and besides I spent nearly five years obtaining a degree from a university in just that; bachelors of science in community health. Eating healthy and working out is not something I have ever had to convince myself to do. As a mother though and working two jobs finding the time to do so is very limited. I have what I call “mommy’s home gym” at home and spend a lot of time doing body resistance exercises from home and am able to get cardio in at the gym at one of my employers. Looking your best comes from confidence more than anything, if you carry yourself that way you need not find motivation to look good.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Elle Mae: Just experimenting!! Trying new things, seeing what you like and what you don’t. It is always exciting for you’re not always creating the same images. The excitement never dies.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this?? Elle Mae: I would say my prior experience in a talent agency for acting helps a great deal with this. When I’d audition for parts the casting director would ask me to read a script, then they’d ask me to change my facial expressions, voice, accent, demeanor each time I read it. This is always what you’re doing when you’re modeling; creating a new character in each pose or outfit.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model’s portfolio? Elle Mae: YES! You have to be willing to take a risk, what do you have to lose? You may create a bad image and you’ll learn from it or you may create a killer photo that people talk about for years to come. You have to be willing to be flexible and always show diversity in your portfolio-challenge yourself.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections? How important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Elle Mae: Imperfections? Do those really exist? No one person is the same and our differences make us all unique. I’ve used professional make up in both modeling shoots and always on film for acting, it’s simply an enhancement on film/camera that brings out your facial features, nothing is wrong with it. However, I don’t think us as models should feel like make up covers up our “imperfections”, use make up as an enhancement not a cover up.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographer’s online portfolio, what really grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them and what separates the great photographers in your mind?  Elle Mae: When I am looking through a photographer’s portfolio I look at lighting, concept, finishing touches, variety and detail. You want a photographer that has a wide range of photos, someone that pays attention to little details, has an eye for creative concepts, and a finishing touch to give it that final flawless look is a plus. Great photographers for me are separated by their personality, I most enjoy working with someone that can lighten the mood, laugh, joke, and be professional all at the same time. Sound hard? It’s not-and it truly creates the best environment. A photographer that goes the extra mile to make sure you are both happy with the images is important also.

The holidays are a time of year that one may look forward to with great anticipation and excitement. And some may hope to hold their breath until the memories of this time of year pass. But whether you look forward to the holidays as a way to remember the feelings you had from childhood or wish to give another that same feeling through benevolence; may we all view this time as an opportunity to reflect upon the meaning of the holidays, and why they are important and special.

Why Celebrate

Through soul searching, I’m certain we would all agree, the holidays aren’t about presents (whether we give or receive them) or Santa Claus. They aren’t meant only for children. They aren’t about seeing the family and enjoying a wonderful family dinner. They aren’t just for Christians or Jews or African-Americans or people who believe in the celebration of a special date in their religious history. And yes, dare me to say it…They aren’t just about watching football, either.

The holidays offer us a chance to find something spiritual and beautiful about life, your surroundings and the people you love who make your life special. We may give thanks or show appreciation through gift-giving and break records on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but let’s not forget to be thankful for life, health and our days filled with people that really love us – as well as fond memories of those we have loved and lost.

Finding Value
When is the last time you took a good look at your life and what you value? Beginning with your friends, your loved ones, your family: What and Who adds value to your life… and how?

I’ll give you a moment…really ask yourself that question. Now write them down. Then commit each one to memory in your heart. Be sure to take them with you everywhere you go. And share with those who need to know how much they mean to you…and why.

LIVING life is a choice we make every single day. What we value or don’t value, is also of our own choosing.

This holiday season, amongst all the celebrations, songs, parties and games; take a moment to celebrate you and those you love. There is a secret to enjoying the season, and it’s very simple. GlamModelz Magazine: How did you develop your interest in modeling? What was your inspiration? Ruby: I have always had an interest in modeling but never had the time to pursue it until recently. The potential to help capture a beautiful, temporary moment in time inspired me the most.

GlamModelz Magazine: What did you see as your strongest attribute prior to getting in front of the lens of a professional photographer for the first time, and did that change after your first shoot? Ruby: I saw my strongest attribute as confidence and enthusiasm, which greatly contributed to the success of my first shoot with a professional photographer.

GlamModelz Magazine: Are you the same person in front of the lens as you are in real life? Tell us how you are different. Ruby: I am similar in the sense that I have a variety of personas I can portray depending on the situation but I am more subtle and casual on a day-to-day basis.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excites you about modeling and what intimidates you the most? Do you have any insecurities related to modeling, and how have you dealt with them? Ruby: The most exciting thing about modeling is the potential to help capture timeless moments. I think everybody has physical insecurities to some extent but its important to remember that we are our own worst critics and confidence comes through on film more than a small flaw.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers online portfolios, what grabs your attention? Do you get a lot of requests for photo shoots, and how do you handle them? Ruby: Quality, variety, and editing ability grab my attention when reviewing photographers online portfolios. I do get a lot of requests to do photoshoots but only a handful of them are legitimate. It is generally very easy to tell which ones would benefit me and which would embarrass me.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any hobbies or other talents that contributes to your success in modeling? Why do you feel they are a contributing factor towards achieving your goals? Ruby: I am a Journalism major and I write in my free time as well as immerse myself in reading. I like to think of modeling as an extension of writing; telling a story or provoking thought with pictures instead of words. This outlook provides a sense of depth and meaning to a profession that many view as superficial.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions and body language are sometimes the hardest part of a successful photo session, how and where did you learn this and do you have any special routines that you go through when you are preparing for a photo shoot? Ruby: I learned facial expressions and body language through observing people in everyday surroundings and pinpointing what it was that made them attractive as well as studying fashion magazines. When preparing for a shoot I find its best not to over think it and instead focus on being comfortable and confident.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do your family and friends feel about your modeling goals? Do you share your goals with them, or keep them to your yourself? Ruby: My family and friends are supportive but I like to keep my goals to myself so I’m not influenced by others opinions.

GlamModelz Magazine: Many models tell me they study their past photo shoots looking for good/bad poses and how each pose flatters them. Would you advocate this and what key elements should a model be looking for in general? Ruby: I would advocate this but it’s important not to fixate on pictures you don’t like, just focus on what it is specifically that makes the pose unflattering so you can make a better choice next time.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you define “success” relative to your career in modeling, and how does that relate to your broader definition for success in life? Do you have specific goals for your modeling? Ruby: I define “success” relative to my career in modeling as being part of the creation of beautiful imagery. I do not have specific goals for my modeling but I would like to continue pursuing it and see where it leads.

GlamModelz Magazine: Where do you see yourself ten years from now… professionally and personally? Ruby: I do not like to look that far into the future. I believe in living in the present moment and enjoying the journey. I would like to maintain positivity, motivation and fulfilling friendships throughout life.

GlamModelz Magazine: Congratulations on your huge win Angela, and Welcome to GlamModelz Magazine. Angela, tell us all how did you get your start in the business? Angela: Well, technically I modeled as a young toddler for a department store but my parents said that I was positively dreadful at sitting still so I gave up modeling until I could control my restless attention span.

In seriousness, I began doing small modeling jobs in college and modeling instantly became a passion of mine. I loved the creative output and artistic expression involved. However, I have to admit I was very intimidated by the demands of the industry as a whole. I didn’t want my self-worth to be dependent on my height or my weight and I felt a lot of pressure from modeling standards. My family was also very strict about wanting me to maintain my own identity and it was very important for me to earn a college degree and put myself through school. I focused my prime modeling years on obtaining my BA in Political Science and I had fantastic experiences developing myself intellectually. It was always important for me to be a strong role model to young women and I just recently, through a series of events, became able to focus more time and attention on my modeling career.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Angela: Well, I guess I really love the feeling of beauty. I think as women we all recognize that feeling. Its a very empowering and majestic feeling and when I’m shooting I just try to bring that through to the camera.

I try to wrap beauty up in every emotion. If the photographer is shooting a dirty, grungy depressing concept; I want that to be tragically beautiful and I want to feel that emotion and show it in my eyes. Likewise, If I am doing a sexy shoot I really want to commit myself to the full gamut of what sexy is. I want to tell a story. I want my image to sing something to its audience. I always want there to be a depth and a feeling to the images I produce. I love that challenge.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career to date? How do you handle negative feelings from those intimidated with your success? Angela: I’m fortunate to have the support of my friends and family. A lot of people have always tried to push me into the industry but I wanted to enter into it on my own terms. I think that now that I am older, 26, I finally feel effortlessly in control of myself. I finally feel like a woman and not just girl and I think confidence is unshakable. Of course there is negativity and cattiness, but its been trivial. For the most part I have had a tremendous amount of support.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel other women are intimidated when learning you are a model and how do you handle this? Angela: At risk of sounding naive I truly don’t think that women are intimidated by me. I’m very approachable. I’m the girl that woman run up to asking directions at the train station in Paris. I get full details about potty training in the line at the grocery store. Women always ask me about clothes and style. I don’t think beauty is anything to be intimated by. I’m very much a girls-girl.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions and body language are sometimes the hardest part of a successful photo session, how and where did you learn this and do you have any special routines or rituals you go through when you are preparing for a photoshoot?? Angela: I like to really immerse myself in the concept of the shoot. I like to act it out but I usually just go with it. I really communicate my surroundings and my feelings but I don’t have any special routine. Being confident and paying attention to details are certainly crucial. Movement is so important and sometimes when shooting you’ll get this great idea to use something around you as a prop and it will just make all the difference in the world because you’ve just added another layer of interest to your image. I think overall you have to be committed and present in your shoots and the expressiveness will just come through naturally. You certainly cant be afraid to communicate.

GlamModelz Magazine: Posing is, of course, one of the biggest parts of modeling. What inspires you in the unique gracefully poses you seam to be pulling off? What advise would you offer new models to the industry? Angela: At one of my first shoots the photographer told me to create angles. I imagine I kind of clobbered about attempting to make myself a human pretzel before I just relaxed and moved naturally. Working out and taking care of your body can help so much in posing because you use little muscles all over to bend and stretch. I try to be aware of how every little piece of me is making up the image as a whole but I’m not 6ft tall so I always try to create length in my poses. I think that yields a very elegant pose.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you promote any special charitable organizations or community services that you would like to share with our readers? How do you feel community service benefits your modeling career? Angela: There are so many great organizations out there to support but you can make a big difference by consistently doing the right thing in your daily life too. I aim to bring love to everyone I encounter and to also hold people accountable for their actions. That being said I’m personally really passionate about human rights on a global scale. I spent time working and living in Cambodia when I was in college. It was such a shock to see the type of corruption and division between the rich and the poor there. I’m very passionate about enabling and empowering people who have sometimes lost hope.

GlamModelz Magazine: OK Angela, we know its not “all work and no play” Tell us the funniest story that you experienced on a runway or photoshoot: Angela: Recently, I had a session that lasted over nine hours with various concepts and locations. We were wrapping up after a long day on location at a big vacant Victorian mansion that my boyfriend’s family owns. The house has a huge claw-foot tub that was integral to the scene and I was supposed to be acting out a breakup by eating LoMein in a bubble bath and crying. However, neither the heat nor the water worked because the mansion had just been winterized.

We turned on the spicket and all of this brown sludge came pouring out. Eventually we got the water on but it was FREEZING cold! We tried to make a million bubbles with dish soap so that the tub wouldn’t need as much cold water for coverage. It was so funny because we were all frantically swishing the water around trying to make tons of bubbles. Finally, we succeeded at making enough bubbles to cover me and I climbed into the freezing tub where I realized that we didnt have chopsticks. I think at that point we all just got really silly and I have the funniest pictures of me turning blue in this tub and just trying to eat LoMein Noodles with bubble covered fingers but the LoMein just looked like earthworms and there were bubbles everywhere!!

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographer’s online portfolio, what really grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them and what separates the great photographers in your mind? Angela: I look for great lighting and composition. Consistency in the quality of the images is really important.

GlamModelz Magazine: Many models tell me they study their past photoshoots looking for good/bad poses and how each pose flatters them. Would you advocate this and what key elements should a model be looking for in general? Angela: I think that’s a good idea. I think you have to know your body type and what type of poses work for you. I’m still learning. Generally, good posture is paramount; aim for a long neck, tilted head, straight legs and chest out.

GlamModelz Magazine: Which website do you feel is best for getting your name out there? Where to you receive the most response? Which site(s) do you feel are the worst and why? Angela: I only have an account on ModelMayhem, but I am planning to join ModelWire and starting a Facebook Fan Page. I’ve heard bad stories about some of the other sites and there is a lot of pornographic and fetish work on those site as well. I’m not interested in that style of modeling. In general, I love promoting my work but new models should use and alias and always look up their photographers credentials. I always bring an escort with me to a shoot that I book of the site just to ensure my safety.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Ms Mocha: My personal goal is to be one of the most famous models in the world. A lot of models are looked up to by young women and I would like to be one of those role models. One that tells women that they can be anything they put their mind to. You can be tall, short, skinny, voluptuous and have flaws. It doesn’t matter! What matters most is what you want to do and the risks and sacrifices you’re willing to take to get there.

GlamModelz Magazine: Posing 101 any suggestions to newer models coming into the business? Ms Mocha: Oh my god, yes! Try not to focus on the pose! A lot of times when you focus too hard it will come across in your photos. As well as your facial expression won’t be where it needs to be. Modeling is not just facial expression, it’s also body language. Your face and body needs to bring forth the concept. You can look at a photo from a distance and love everything about it because of the body language or the pose. But the second you get closer to the image the models facial expression does not match the pose or the concept. Its either because the model was trying too hard, had other things on her mind or was just not comfortable taking the photo. So with all that being said, I’m saying to just do what you feel. Let it flow!

GlamModelz Magazine: What have been your greatest successes to date? Ms Mocha: One of my greatest successes has been finding a photographer that knows how to capture me in a way that I could never do on my own. He has helped me bring out Ms. Mocha! Most of all, having a beautiful little boy that supports me more than anyone!

GlamModelz Magazine: When working with a photographer do you bring your own concepts and idea’s as well as working with theirs? Ms Mocha: When working with a photographer I try to change it up a bit. Sometimes I will bring my own concepts, but I also allow the photographer to do the same. They might find something good for me to do that I never thought of to begin with.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with Implied and Nude posing? Ms Mocha: I don’t have an issue with implied or nude posing. As long as it’s tasteful and artistic! I actually like implied and nude posing!

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of Family, Friends and loved ones with your modeling? Ms Mocha: Oh yes! My entire family supports me in all that I do! Modeling or not! It’s important to have a support team behind you. It can’t be done without them!

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts on the whole escort issue? Ms Mocha: I feel that if a model has never had the opportunity to shoot or even meet the photographer that there should not be a problem with her having an escort. Some photographers lose out on what they really want/looking for just because they have a strict policy on escorts. Well, we live in a world of lies and deception. So why would any model trust to shoot with that photographer if she hasn’t met them. That goes for both male and female models and photographers.

GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model standpoint? Ms Mocha: From a model standpoint I would like to see the height thing change. I don’t think it matters how tall you are. There is a lot of talent out in the world that has yet to be discovered all because there is a restriction on height. I love the runway but because I am only 5’ 4” it’s going to be so hard to become a runway model, but I am working on changing that.

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Ms Mocha: Knowing that one day my time to shine will come! It’s like getting myself prepared for that day! That’s my motivation!

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? Ms Mocha: I ignore them! No point in entertaining something that I’m not interested in!

GlamModelz Magazine: Your thoughts on TFP or TFCD sessions in general? Ms Mocha: I think that TFP and TFCD is great! Especially for those models that are just getting into the industry and don’t have a lot of funds!

GlamModelz Magazine: Any suggestions to models about wardrobe? What to have and where to find deals? Ms Mocha: Always, always, always have a plan B! When I say plan B, I mean like an extra pair of shoes, outfit, etc. You might find an outfit that you loved and thought it was perfect! Well let’s say you get to the shoot and your thought/perception of the shoot was way off! Well always make sure you have a plan B! Also depending on if you’re going to have a makeup artist or not, always, always have your own makeup case with the foundation of your choice. It will come in handy! If you wear lashes, make sure you have a pair of those as well! I could go on and on about what to have with you!

Now when it comes to finding deals, it all really depends on the area you are in and what time of the year it is. Like I reside in the DFW area and everything is pretty much backwards. You find great prices on winter clothes in the summer and vice versa. Can’t give out all of my secrets, but I can say to look, look, look. Don’t settle, because you just might find that same thing somewhere else for a few dollars less. Trust me, those few dollars add up and go a long way.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Ms Mocha: What excited me the most when I started modeling was the fact that I looked different. I didn’t look like the girl I saw in the photos I took with my phone or on a disposable camera. I looked like a model! And it gave me the chance to shop, and show off my style of dressing!

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this? Ms Mocha: I learned about facial expressions through trial and error! Not everyone has the ability to be shown how to do this! Once I stopped and realized that I was trying too hard and not being myself, then I began to change it! Me cutting my hair was one of the best things I could have ever done to bring out my facial expressions!

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model portfolio? Ms Mocha: Yes, yes, yes! If a model cannot be flexible and diverse then it will make it even more difficult to find photographers to work with them. Everyone knows that we all have lives, but what a lot of models have to understand is that this a job/career. Just like you have to be flexible for your day job you have to be flexible for this industry. Even if it is just part time!

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection? From photographers, agencies and your piers? Ms Mocha: I love rejection! Tell me know if you have to, but don’t just send me on my way with a no! Tell me why you said no so that I can work on correcting it and then come back bigger, better, stronger and even more fierce than when you met me before!

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections? And how important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Ms Mocha: I think imperfections can be beautiful! Allowing a professional makeup artist to do your makeup is very important! You might be able to do it yourself, but the job you do might not be good enough to bring out what you and the photographer wants to be brought out. I won’t be doing my own makeup anymore. I see the difference from when I do it and a professional does it!

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Ms Mocha: It’s a tough industry, but don’t give up! You’re going to hear some no’s and some will even say yes! But don’t give up! If it’s what you want and love then go for it with god at your side and you will succeed!

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your future plans and goals with your modeling career? Dionusia: My current goal is to make it on Maxim’s top 100 in the Hometown Hotties as well as continue to work hard to get my name out there.

GlamModelz Magazine: What’s your greatest modeling accomplishment to date? Dionusia: I think it is the simple fact that I am continuing to move forward with it. Every success even a small one is still a step in the right direction.

GlamModelz Magazine: Any thoughts or issues with implied and nude posing? Dionusia: At first I was nervous to do implied photos now I don’t view it as big of a deal; however, I am not really interested in getting involved in nude posing.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career to date? Dionusia: All of my friends have been more than supportive and without them I would probably not have made it this far. My family is still not as open to the idea, but they are coming around. In time they will warm up to the idea.

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Dionusia: I am very self motivated. I know that at any moment I could meet the right person that could potentially make my career take off. I know that I need to look my best to make a great impression! First impressions are the most crucial in my eyes because in that first five minutes people decide whether or not they like you.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? Dionusia: With inappropriate offers I thank people and politely refuse them. Rude individuals I have a tendency to ignore.

GlamModelz Magazine: Your thoughts on TFP or TFCD sessions in general? Dionusia: I think that they can help new photographers and models build a portfolio; however, once you have a portfolio built they aren’t as useful. Unless the person you are working with has some amazing work!

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you go about picking out wardrobe for a shoot? Dionusia: I usually pick whatever I feel my most beautiful and sexy in to wear. I try to make sure that everything I bring goes together so this way I am able to mix and match and fully utilize my wardrobe.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Dionusia: How wonderful the pictures turned out.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this?? Dionusia: Jim Jurica has been so wonderful and taught me so much about how to be “the part”. Without his help and enthusiasm I really don’t know where I would be.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection from photographers, agencies and your peers? Dionusia: I take it as a challenge. It may sting a little but it gets me pumped up and makes me want to work even harder to achieve my goals.

GlamModelz Magazine: What was your first photoshoot? And what was that like? Dionusia: My first photoshoot was in Florida on a beach. My sister was actually taking pictures for a class that she was taking. It was very beautiful and awesome.

GlamModelz Magazine: How important do you feel professional makeup is to modeling? Dionusia: I love professional makeup. I don’t mind doing my own, but makeup artists can usually create something amazing from their palette of blushes and eye shadow. I think it helps when you are planning on submitting things to agencies or even for portfolio work.

GlamModelz Magazine: What makes you want to work with a photographer? What grabs your attention? Dionusia: I love when I feel comfortable in front of a photographer. It helps when they are easy going and fun to be around. Everyone has to have a little fun on a modeling set.

GlamModelz Magazine: What do you think are your best modeling assets? Dionusia: I really love my eyes, and my tummy.

GlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the modeling business? Jacquleine: I actually started through Model Mayhem just for fun. I was able to work with talented photographers that I otherwise would not have been able to reach in order to build a portfolio of work that thankfully started to land me consistent paid work. Never thought a website could lead me to a modeling career but it did.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Jacquleine: My main goal is to always enjoy doing my work. If you dont like what you do then honestly what’s the point? I love my job….everyday is a new experience and it keeps me on my toes. I never get bored. As long as Im have fun, Im in it for the long haul!

GlamModelz Magazine: Posing 101: any suggestions to newer models coming into the business? Jacquleine: I always heard to study magazines for poses but that doesnt always work for me. I pay attention to how my body moves naturally and focus on the garment that Im selling to highlight its best features. I mean why would you want to look like every other girl in a magazine. Be yourself!

GlamModelz Magazine: You’ve been modeling less than a year and yet you’ve seen quite a bit of success coming your way for such a brief time. What has been your greatest success to date? Jacquleine: I have definitely been very blessed. I feel like my biggest success has to be my proudest moment. I was interviewed live on a spanish show called Minuto de Fama where one of my photo shoots was televised. The show aired in the Dominican Republic for all my family and friends to see. Its wonderful to have people you love be so happy and proud of you.

GlamModelz Magazine: When working on concepts for upcoming shoots, how much thought or effort do you put into it? Where does your inspiration come from? Jacqueline: Im inspired by the photographer. I like to hear their ideas and share my own. I feel like its so important to collaborate on a concept because in the end they will be the ones capturing the images and I like to make sure we are on the same page.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with implied and nude posing? Jacquleine: Implied is one thing but nudes are just not for me. Many people argue that as a model its not going to hurt your career but I dont do it because I am just not comfortable doing it. I admire beautifully done artistic nudes but its just not for me.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career to date? Jacquleine: Im so grateful that I have. My family and close friends are so proud and happy for me. They love to see that I am happy doing my work because they know first hand how long I was waiting to find something that I could be passionate about.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts on the whole escort issue? Jacqueline: I never bring one because I feel like its disruptive to the creative process. I understand that some girls dont feel safe because there are a lot of dangers out in the world, but that’s why I do my research before working with someone. I even check references. I like to know exactly who I am working with.

GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model’s standpoint? Jacquleine: I would love to see more real women model fashion. I feel like beauty comes in all shapes and sizes so why not show it in garments? I would rather see a curvy model modeling a garment because then I’ll know its going to look good on me too. It just makes more sense.

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Jacquleine: My health… I want to live a good life and feel the best I can. But I do still cheat sometimes because you have to allow yourself to indulge from time to time.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? Jacquleine: I try to be as professional as possible and just let them know I am not interested because it is not the kind of work I like to do.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any thoughts or suggestions to models about wardrobe? Such as what to have and where to find deals? Jacquleine: When it comes to wardrobe, I like wear and buy what makes me feel good. No one is going to look good in something uncomfortable that you have to constantly worry about adjusting. As far as deals I always splurge on the basics because I know they are timeless and spend less on trendy items.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Jacquleine: As silly as it sounds, getting my hair and make-up done. I loved seeing how someone else could make me look. I would feel like a different person, almost like a character ready to play my part for the camera.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this?? Jacquleine: I try to always be thinking and feeling something because its going to read in your face and specifically in your eyes. This will give your image more impact.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection from photographers, agencies and your peers? Jacquleine: I don’t even bother thinking about it. Your not going to be right for every job or for every market. It’s just part of the industry, cant take it personally. I just focus on what I am right for and continue to move forward.

GlamModelz Magazine: What was your first photoshoot? And what was that like? Jacquleine: My first photoshoot was for an agency that over charged me to produce a commercial comp card which they said I desperately needed, yes that happens a lot. But I was so excited because I felt like I was on my way to making things happen. I had an agent and was ready to start booking. I still have a stack of 200 of those comp cards and dont even use them!

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections? How important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Jacquleine: Great make-up is extremely important because you want your images to show you in the best possible light. You cant expect that a photographer is going to edit your face to perfection, not all of them even have that skill set, and even if they did you probably wouldnt even look like yourself anymore. Over editing in my opinion is just as bad as not doing it all.

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Jacquleine: Be yourself! Do what feels right to you and don’t let anyone talk you into anything you don’t want to do.

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us the funniest story that has personally happened to you on a runway or photoshoot. Jacquleine: I think the funniest thing in general is when people start gathering to watch your shoot. You’ll see cars stopping on the side of the road, people taking behind the scenes pictures, and even cops standing around checking everything out. It makes me smile.

GlamModelz Magazine: We have noticed you seem to be branching out into other areas in your modeling. Do you have a style or category you really enjoy shooting? Jacquleine: I love all areas of fashion and have been lucky to do a lot of swimwear. Luckily I have been starting to book more commercial work which is surprisingly the highest paid category in modeling. One of my biggest clients is Disney, which is always fun.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers online portfolio’s, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them? Jacquleine: I get inspired to shoot with photographers who capture a diversity of styles. To me it shows creativity and improvisation. I particularly love when I see that they can capture different outdoor locations in distinct way.

GlamModelz Magazine: What do you think are your best modeling assets? Jacquleine: I have been told my biggest asset is my diverse look and of course many would argue its my latina curves.

GlamModelz Magazine: A little birdie tells us that you’re also a talented makeup artist. Are you formally trained? Jacquleine: Lol….not trained at all. Im actually an artist and love to draw and paint. A face to me is just a different canvas to experiment with.

GlamModelz Magazine: Any special message you’d like to say to our readers and your fans? Jacquleine: I appreciate so much everyone that has believed in me and given me the opportunities to do the work I love….I feel like one lucky lady and love my fans so much:-)

GlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business? Lynnzie Cherelle: I started modeling doing spring and fall runway fashion shows for Nordstrom in 6^th grade. I was young, but felt comfortable in front of an audience (a TRUE Leo). As I graduated high school and had a little more free time and freedom entering college I took things into my own hands and actually started up on model mayhem. There wasn’t much of anything for modeling agency’s on the Eastern side of WA at the time so I “managed” myself.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Lynnzie Cherelle: I love modeling; it is my dream to one day make a career out of what I love to do. However, it is a very hard industry to make it in. I’m just hoping to make it big one day. A lot of hard work, dedication, and patience go into this. So basically my goal is to become a house hold name!

GlamModelz Magazine: Posing 101, any suggestions to newer models coming into the business? Lynnzie Cherelle: Know which angles look best and compliment your body type. Never pose with your hands straight at your sides, it doesn’t show your figure off and makes you look wider. If you feel awkward posing that’s ok, sometimes it’s suppose to feel that way! Have confidence in every pose you do because it will show in the photo. You don’t always have to have a dramatic pose change for each new capture, sometimes it’s just a slight hand movement or leg movement that makes all the difference.

GlamModelz Magazine: What has been your greatest success to date? Lynnzie Cherelle: I’ve done a ton of photoshoots and I think that keeping motivated when you don’t always get the “best” jobs is a success all in itself. However Cocoa jeans as well as the Maxim tear sheets have been my greatest success thus far.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with implied and nude posing? Lynnzie Cherelle: I think it is beautiful. It is the human body and people should embrace its beauty and artistic form. After all we were born naked!;)

GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model’s standpoint? Lynnzie Cherelle: I would love to see more realistic models on the runway and in the fashion industry of modeling. Yes, tall skinny women are beautiful, but majority of people are not this body type.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Lynnzie Cherelle: What excited me most was that I wanted to try everything. I wanted to do as many photoshoots as possible to show people what I was made of and what I could do.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model’s portfolio? Lynnzie Cherelle: Very, it is always good to be well rounded in anything you do, it gives you an advantage.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection from photographers, agencies and your piers? Lynnzie Cherelle: Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, that’s life. But if you let rejection get you down you won’t ever go anywhere. All it takes is one YES out of a million no’s.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections? How important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Lynnzie Cherelle: I embrace my imperfections, I think imperfections give character and a signature look. Why would someone want to look the same as anyone else? That’s just the way I see it. I also think professional make up looks great and can give someone a variety of looks in their portfolio. To be honest, I have only used professional makeup in about 3 of my photoshoots. If you can do your makeup then that’s great too!

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Lynnzie Cherelle: To be confident. I can’t stress that enough. People are going to try and bring you down, but that’s where you have to be mentally tough. I would also say to not jump into anything too fast, do photoshoots that are within your comfort zone while first starting out. Also be cautious about who you shoot with, get references, research their work, even do a background check if it is someone who isn’t established. There are a lot of creeps with a camera out there, I’ve experienced that first hand!

GlamModelz Magazine: Lynnzie, your on-line portfolio is quite stunning and exhibits innovative styling; every single photograph is a work of art. Do you plan the shots that you are adding to your portfolio or just shoot what ever you’re feeling at the time? Lynnzie Cherelle: I plan the concepts out ahead of time with the photographer for the most part. Sometimes I will have a feel for the emotion that I want to show through that concept, but it all comes natural when I get in front of the camera.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Sarah Cunha: My personal goals are to carry on through college and receive a master in business. As for modeling, my ambition is to travel around the world and experience the different trends and types of fashion.

GlamModelz Magazine: Posing 101, any suggestions to newer models coming into the business? Sarah Cunha: Although I am still a newbie in the modeling industry, my best advice is to just relax your face, take a deep breath and flow through your movements. Don’t be afraid to take your poses to the next extreme and let your creativity and individuality show.

GlamModelz Magazine: What has been your greatest success to date? Sarah Cunha: To this date, my greatest success will be being a part of GlamModelz magazine, I feel like this is the first step to a long journey I’ve been awaiting.

GlamModelz Magazine: When working on concepts for upcoming shoots, how much thought or effort do you put into it? Where does your inspiration come from? Sarah Cunha: When working on upcoming shoots I put in a lot of thought and effort because I want to feel and be prepared and it boosts my excitement for the shoot. My inspiration comes from within. If you don’t believe in yourself, you can’t expect others to. I believe in myself 100%.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with implied and nude posing? Sarah Cunha: My issues and thoughts towards implied and nude posing varies. Implied is a sexual yet conservative way to express and flaunt your body, which I feel comfortable exposing. As for nude photography, I feel as though I should keep my goodies a secret.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career to date? Sarah Cunha: My support system to this day has always been my family, especially my mother. I push myself harder than anyone else but I know if I fall they will always be there to catch me. No matter what they are always there and they love me unconditionally.

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Sarah Cunha: My motivated is that this is my career and what I need to do is make sure my body is the best it has ever been. I am getting paid to work out in a since.
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? Sarah Cunha: I kindly reject their offer and give them a respectable answer as to why. If a photographer wants to shoot me, they need to respect me and approach me in an appropriate manner.

GlamModelz Magazine: Your thoughts on TFP or TFCD sessions in general? Sarah Cunha: As a newbie Time for Print is a great way to get killer pictures and enhance my experience. Once I become more experienced TFP will no be something I do frequently because I am in this industry to make money.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any thoughts or suggestions to models about wardrobe? Such as what to have and where to find deals? Sarah Cunha: I am totally in love with Nordstrom’s; they have a great clearance section and jewelry to die for. As for shoes, I always find the most fashionable ones at Sheik and they range good in price.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Sarah Cunha: The biggest excitement was that I actually got the opportunity to learn how to be a model. I always had a nice for it but never thought I could do it but I definitely proved myself wrong. I think once I got the pictures for my first shoot I thought to myself, “This is just the start. OMG! “

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this? Sarah Cunha: I learned my facial expressions through training with Frank Rehm in his studio; he truly taught me everything I know.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model’s portfolio? Sarah Cunha: No one wants to look at the same pictures and styles in a portfolio plain and simple. Flexibility and diversity are important in my portfolio.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection from photographers, agencies and your piers? Sarah Cunha: Rejection is a part of life, accept it and get over it. If they don’t want you, remember there is someone out there who is dying to have you. I keep a positive mindset and not let it bring me down; although it sucks its jus the way the business works.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections? How important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Sarah Cunha: I handle imperfections to the best of my ability; everyone has them you just have to know how to hide them. Professional makeup is important because first off it looks better than what you can do yourself and it really makes the shoot come alive and of course it makes you feel pretty.

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Sarah Cunha: What I would tell a model just interring the industry would be to just follow your instincts, don’t feel pressured to do styles you don’t feel comfortable with. When you feel out of place it shows in your pictures and for the most part it doesn’t turn out well. Go after what you want, not what others want for you. This is your career and your future so make it into what you want.

GlamModelz Magazine: We have noticed you seam to be branching out into other areas in your modeling. Do you have a style or category you really enjoy shooting? Sarah Cunha: I have developed a strong interest in high fashion modeling. I really just love every style of modeling though, every shoot is so unique.

GlamModelz Magazine: Your complexion always looks so flawless. Will you share your beauty secrets you use to keep it that way? Sarah Cunha: I wash my face every morning and night, and make sure I never sleep with my makeup on because it is so bad for your skin. Every so often I always go to get facials from a local aesthetic.

GlamModelz Magazine: The Modeling reality TV shows have created quite an interest in modeling these days. Can you offer any advice for those interested in getting their big brake? Any Tips for models wishing to do it sooner rather then later? Sarah Cunha: If you are interested in getting a big brake then you need to up your effort and consistence. It’s not going to just get handed to you but the more passionate you are and the more you want it the sooner it will come. Put modeling into your top priorities and become you know it you will be right where you want to be in this industry.

GlamModelz Magazine: I have noticed you spend a great deal of time maintaining your portfolio on ModelMayhem. Do you feel this is an important factor to your success as a model? Sarah Cunha: It is an important factor to keep my portfolio updated and current. Success comes from persistence.

Sarah Cunha: It is a little of both, although I know what I need to complete my portfolio I always let what I’m feeling and my mood guide what kind of photoshoot I’m going to result with.

GlamModelz Magazine: It appears to us that decision? Do you have any regrets about your decision? Sarah Cunha: My decision is to not engage in nude modeling. I don’t regret it because I know it is my best interest to keep my clothes on.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographer’s online portfolios, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them? Sarah Cunha: Images that appear to have more thought and creativity in them. It shows that the photography takes things outside the box which insures you that you will get some awesome shots.

GlamModelz Magazine: most eye candy magazines are fixated on some part of the female anatomy. Tell us what do you think your best assets are? Sarah Cunha: My best assets are definitely my waist and my smile.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Jocelyn: My favorite part was (and still is in some ways) getting pampered. I love having my hair and makeup done and being the center of attention on set! What girl wouldn’t???

GlamModelz Magazine: What has been your greatest success to date? Jocelyn: I would say I have had several milestones. Moving away from my family and friends to be in the industry was very tough, but enabled me to have this career. My first national tear sheet was a prom photo in Seventeen Magazine. I was so proud to tell my parents to run to the local grocery store and pick up a copy to see me!

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Jocelyn: I would tell them that they have to be extremely firm in their morals. I would go as far as to say they need to write out a list of rules for themselves, because you are tested to the limit on a weekly basis in this industry. You are constantly pressured to lose weight, have cosmetic procedures/surgery, do various drugs, sleep with photographers and/or clients, etc.

I am proud to say that I still weigh the same, have never had any cosmetic procedures/surgery, and maintain all of my rules about drugs and sex in the industry.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this? Jocelyn: I learned that facial expressions were important almost immediately. Both facial and body expressions create the mood of the image, so you must learn to act without words. This comes with time and experience but practicing how to control your muscles in the mirror is helpful. Both contracting and relaxing muscles gives shape to your image.

For example, you may be laying across sharp rocks in a bikini but you must be able to relax muscles in your neck and arms while holding yourself up in order to create the illusion of relaxation and confidence. It’s not easy.

GlamModelz Magazine: Your on-line portfolio is quite stunning and exhibits innovative styling; every single photograph is a work of art. Do you plan the shots that you are adding to your portfolio or just shoot whatever you’re feeling at the time? Jocelyn: I never plan what shots will or won’t go into my portfolio. I do my best to keep track of tear sheets and get images from clients and photographers after collaboration. If the image is at the high level of quality I have in my book (portfolio) and represents a distinct look I feel my clients will appreciate, I add it.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers online portfolios, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them? Jocelyn: Well, money over images is what motivates me to book a shoot at this point in my career. However, when you are looking to test (build your portfolio) as a model, the key thing to look for is CONSISTENCY. A photographers portfolio is his/her best images since they started photography. Since their age is not important, there is less enforcement with keeping it updated.

Therefore, if they have one strong beauty shot, one strong swim shot, one strong editorial, etc…it may very well be trial and error. If I need, for example, to update my swim, I would look for someone whose portfolio has many natural light swimwear images that are high quality. If you choose a studio beauty photographer to shoot your swimwear, you’re most likely wasting your time.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection from photographers, agencies and your peers? Jocelyn: Rejection is a daily occurrence. You are very lucky if 10% of your castings become bookings as a professional model. The way to handle this is to be secure with yourself and to maintain the attitude that clients simply have a specific look in mind for their brand image, and you may not be the right fit. It’s a difficult thing to do because as a model, you’re in sales…and your look is your product. So, taking rejection personally is a natural thing.

GlamModelz Magazine: The Modeling reality TV shows have created quite an interest in modeling these days. Can you offer any advice for those interested in getting their big break? Jocelyn: It is unfortunate that these shows have created the illusion of reality, when they are quite the opposite. They have encouraged many girls who do not meet the strict requirements to sustain themselves in the real modeling industry. So many girls are trying that castings that used to take 15 minutes now take an hour and a half.

I got to know one girl who had been on “Americas Next Top Model” and had fared quite well. She asked me to help her take the next steps, so I brought her to an agency. The booker looked at her and asked for her portfolio. We explained that she’d been on the show and they were mailing it to her. “So you’ve had no real experience…besides the show?” he asked. No, was the answer. “Thanks but no thanks”…he replied and walked away.

GlamModelz Magazine: When you’re not working, what can we find you doing with your free time? Jocelyn: In my free time, I enjoy the beach (wearing sunscreen of course), relaxing with my family, and playing with friends. I enjoy life day-by-day and make the most of everything that comes my way!

GlamModelz Magazine: Would you like to tell us about any major campaigns and/or publications you have done? Jocelyn: Venus Swimwear, Playboy, Bud Light, Puma, Mariott, Office Depot, Esquire (Turkey) and much, much more.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most about modeling Scarlett, and how did you get your start in the business? Scarlett: Last summer (2010) I started by responding to an ad I saw asking for models for a portfolio building session. It was an easy, nothing crazy studio shoot and I used the photos to start a profile on Model Mayhem. Modeling was something I had thought about but never got serious about it until earlier this spring, when I started shooting on a regular basis. I didn’t get really excited about it until I started to explore glamour modeling. I loved the way I looked! I love being sexy and self-confident.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model’s style/genre or are you setting your sights on one particular audience? Scarlett: Yes, I’d say versatility is important, but each model is different, and it really depends on what they want and where they want to go. Some models find a niche and really run with it. Personally, I’m placing a huge emphasis on glamour, but I also want to maintain the ability to do commercial fashion and lifestyle looks.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers portfolio’s, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them? Scarlett: Quality, first. I have had the opportunity to shoot with several talented photographers – like Erik Christensen – in the past few months. Now I look at other photographers portfolios and ask “Are the qualities of their images as good as, or better, than the ones I already have?” I also look for unique style that sets them apart. Mostly, I’m attracted to images that portray self-confidence and sex appeal – and I don’t think the subject has to be minimally clothed to achieve the latter.

GlamModelz Magazine: Scarlett, Do you have any hobbies or other talents that contributes to your success in modeling? Why do you feel they are a contributing factor towards achieving your goals? Scarlett: There are several things I’ve done in my life that I feel have contributed toward personality traits that help me reach for success in the modeling world. I have been both a collegiate music student and I’ve participated on various cheerleading teams. Both of those activities have put me in front of crowds of people and helped learn to be in front of an audience, learn how to “act” or portray whatever emotion I needed to in order to get a response, as well as adding to self-confidence. I also currently serve in the Military. That experience alone has given me TONS of self-confidence and a “go get ‘em, get it done” attitude. I have to say I’m very persistence and determined now. You won’t catch me giving up just because I didn’t “make it big” in 6 months. I’ll be around for a while. I plan to be the honey badger of the modeling world and just “take what I want.” (Youtube that)

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions and body language are sometimes the hardest part of a successful photo session, how and where did you learn this and do you have any special routines or rituals you go through when you are preparing for a photoshoot?? Scarlett: Really, just experience. Every shoot I get better, and I’ve done a lot of photo shoots this year just for my own learning. Also, I have to give some kudos to a photographer I’ve shot with a dozen times and more to come – Cliff Estes. He originally asked me to do pin-up with him and has really helped me work on not always being so serious.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career? How do you handle negative feelings from those intimidated with your success? Do you find other women are intimidated when learning you are a model? Scarlett: Honestly, my family doesn’t know too much. My parents and brother know I model but they don’t really know details, and it’s not that they aren’t supportive, I just don’t feel the need to share that with them. As long as I’m successful, happy, and safe they don’t care what I do. As far as friends, the ones that know think it’s pretty cool that I’m going for want I want. I very rarely get anything negative or catty directed to me, but it doesn’t bother me. I just don’t say anything and honestly, I don’t care about negative opinions. I think the only women who would be intimidated are those lacking in their own self-esteem.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any final thoughts, special interests, campaigns, work with charitable organizations or awards you would like to share with our readers? Scarlett: As far as modeling goes, no – not yet anyways! I haven’t been modeling long and this Glam Modelz feature is my first real achievement. Oh – I did just start working for a promotions company – so you’ll see me around mostly doing liquor promos. In my personal life, my biggest “special interest” is my military service. In fact, next summer I will be deployed. When I come back, I’d like to find a way to use modeling to raise money for military charities and pursue talent agency representation.

GlamModelz Magazine: Scarlett, your on-line portfolio is quite stunning and exhibits innovative styling; every single photograph is a work of art. Do you plan the shots that you are adding to your portfolio or just shoot what ever you’re feeling at the time? Scarlett: A little of both. I do like to think about the general theme and take the time to pick out a wardrobe prior to a shoot, but I always throw in some last minute items “just in case.” Some times I’ll hold onto a particular item for a long time waiting for the right photo shoot, but I also have had my fair share of last minute “wait let’s try this!” moments that have had great results. I’m pretty laid back and have a “roll with it” personality; I go with the flow and keep an open mind. When you aren’t afraid to get a bad shot and experiment – you’ll end up getting “THE SHOT.”

GlamModelz Magazine: OK Scarlett, we know its not “all work and no play” Tell us the funniest store that you experienced on a runway or photoshoot: Scarlett: This was NOT funny when it happened, but now it’s a funny story to tell. I was shooting next to the Seattle Aquarium, when a random joe walked up the photographer (Cliff Estes, if you’re wondering) and said something like “Nice photos.” Cliff said thanks, but the guy yelled something about not thanking him and started throwing punches. The whole scuffle lasted about five minutes before the guy ran off. The cops were called and we got to go on a joy ride up and down Alaskan Way. No one was hurt, and it was really strange, so now we laugh at it.

GlamModelz Magazine: Many models tell me they study their past photoshoots looking for good/bad poses and how each pose flatters them. Would you advocate this and what key elements should a model be looking for in general? Scarlett: Yes! Learning is key to getting better! There is always something to learn from every shoot, good and bad. Even if you have a “bad” shoot and don’t like the results, you can use it as a learning tool to find what doesn’t work – and then don’t do it again. However, I can be pretty hard on myself so sometimes I have to back away from a set of photos and come back later. We’re all our own worst critic and sometimes you have to force yourself to see as other people see you, which I’ve found is much more forgiving.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you met any local designers at fashion shows that you would like to share with our readers? Scarlett: Well, by the time this interview runs I will have done my first fashion show for Total Tease Apparel! I’m very excited about it!

GlamModelz Magazine: Which website do you feel is best for getting your name out there? Where do you receive the most response? Which site(s) do you feel are the worst and why? Scarlett: In terms of getting my name out to other photographers – Model Mayhem has worked best for me. I also recently started using facebook to network and have meet a couple photographers there, but it’s mostly just a fan base. As far as just gaining an appreciative audience – I use Deviant Art to share the majority of my work including all the photos that don’t make it to my MM portfolio and have a fairly substantial following there. DA fans are who voted me to the top in the Glam contest. J I don’t have a “worst” site because those three sites are all I’ve used. I do caution other models that when they are using the internet to find photographers to ALWAYS do your research and make sure they are actually a reputable photographer and find other models they’ve worked with. Oh. Maybe stay away from Craigslist. That’s sketchy.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Brittany: Of course, I want to continue modeling and progress as far as I can, but I hope to learn as much as I can so it not can only benefit and prepare me for the business, but for the real world.

GlamModelz Magazine: When working with a photographer do you bring your own concepts and idea’s as well as working with theirs? Brittany: Yes, of course. Bringing new and different ideas together can make a huge different. Two heads are always better than one.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with Implied and Nude posing? Brittany: I have not done any nude shots. But I’ am open to the idea as long as it is done classy and tastefully.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of Family, Friends and loved ones with your modeling? Brittany: Yes. My dad is the one who introduced me to the industry. He has always been there to give me advice when I need it. My boyfriend also supports me. He just wants me to pursue my dream and to be happy.

GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model standpoint? Brittany: That every model can have curves.

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Brittany: The better I look, the better I feel.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? Brittany: “Next!”

GlamModelz Magazine: Any suggestions to models about wardrobe? What to have and where to find deals? Brittany: Simple, wear what works best for you.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Brittany: It’s always exciting to see how your pictures came out for the first time.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this? Brittany: Past experiences with photo shoots are a great way to learn from facial expressions. Just looking back at old photos and being able to critique myself. I always liked getting a second opinion from a friend or family member, too. Also to practice in front of a mirror you learn what works for you. ;D

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model portfolio? Brittany: Very… You will always run into someone different from you. Being able to adjust and work with them is a must.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection? From photographers, agencies and your piers? Brittany: It’s all apart of the game. I just have to accept and learn from rejections and realize what I could do better next time.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections? And how important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Brittany: Imperfections will always haunt a model whether you see it or not. No one is perfect, but learning to work with imperfections is a plus. Make up can be very important to a model depending on the type of shoot because you can cover them up.

GM: Welcome to GLAMMODELZ Magazine Jenna. How did you get started in modeling and what sort of experiences can you share?

Jenna: I was contacted by Chromazone Model Management shortly after my senior pictures were posted. It was sort of weird because my sister had taken my senior pictures, they weren’t even professionally taken, yet the management team still showed interest in me. I have done a number of different projects for clothing lines and just recently walked in my first runway show. I was also recently featured in Mile High Sports Magazine in the “Girl in Your Corner” section, so that was exciting!

GM: What are your thoughts about the modeling industry in Denver or Colorado in general?
Jenna: I think Denver/Colorado is just now coming up on the map as far as the fashion world goes. A lot of people are very passionate about it. Denver might not be the best place to spot high-fashion models, but it does have a good selection of glam.

GM: How did you learn what poses are effective for glamour model photography and do you have any advice to offer new or up-and-coming models?

Jenna: My management team really coached me and made me the model I am today. We had lots of one on one sessions where we would go over poses and different looks. It also took a lot of research, studying tons of magazine spreads and seeing what worked best for my look. I’m very thankful they worked so closely with me, you get in such a cut-throat industry and you are expected to be perfect from the get go.

GM: Any tips on hair or makeup?

Jenna: Growing up I was always a “girly-girl”, and I have an older sister who taught me everything as far as hair and make-up goes. I would just say it’s important to be well-rounded, because I am often asked to do my own hair and make-up for shoots. Only you know what looks and works best for your hair and skin type. It helps photographers out, and it allows for experience on the “other side” of modeling.

GM: What plans do you have for a career in modeling? Any specific dreams or ambitions?

Jenna: As far as my career for modeling, I am just letting it take me wherever it goes. I try not to have too many expectations because if you don’t expect anything you’ll never be disappointed. I am going to school for apparel and merchandising, so I know I will be in the fashion industry whether it’s modeling clothes or making them ?

GM: Tell us a little about yourself. What do you like to do for recreation? What interests you- your favorite books, personal influences, music, or ideas?

Jenna: I love to dance, I think it’s a great way to keep your body in shape and release a little stress here and there. My biggest influence is my older sister, just because she’s doing great things with her life and she is extremely ambitious. I enjoy most types of music, and I love being around my friends.

GM: Do you have any fashion advice for models—favorite places to buy clothing, shoes, makeup, etc…?

Jenna: My only advice would be to always keep your eye out! Whenever I am shopping, I’m constantly thinking about what would be cool for a photo-shoot, or how something would portray on camera. Also, in order to be fashionable you don’t need to spend tons of money, find something that looks good on your body and rock it.

GM: What are your favorite features of yourself?

Jenna: My favorite feature of myself would have to be my skin. I’ve never had a problem with acne or dry or oily skin, which I am so thankful for. Because my skin is so healthy, I don’t require a lot of make-up for photo shoots, which I think gives me the ability to feel and look more natural.

GM: Lastly, how were your sessions with Jeff DeHaven of DeHaven Digital Photography?

Jenna: Jeff is awesome! He’s very professional, but hilarious at the same time. We work great as a team and I think the more you work with a specific photographer or model, the more you learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses and your able to work better together. He’s a great photographer and one of my favorites.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Amanda: My personal goals are actually a bit different than many other young models. I am going to school right now to obtain my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I am pursuing modeling as a way to fund my way through grad school so I can one day better help people with mental disorders.

GlamModelz Magazine: What has been your greatest success to date? Amanda: Winning this contest and becoming a GlamModelz cover girl, of course

GlamModelz Magazine: When working on concepts for upcoming shoots, how much thought or effort do you put into it? Where does your inspiration come from? Amanda: I am inspired by everyday things I see and events that take place. I love doing shoots outdoors. Often when I go running, I may see something as simple as a beautiful tree or flower and realize that could grow into a nice concept for a shoot. Ideas can come from many different avenues so it’s good to pay attention to what’s around you; you never know when a new shoot idea will come to you.

GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model’s standpoint? Amanda: I would love to see shorter models given a chance to show what they can do. I realize that tall models dominate the market, but height should not hold anyone back!

GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Amanda: Thankfully, I love to exercise and stay in shape. Running is a sort of catharsis for me as grad school can get pretty stressful at times. I guess that stress is not always such a bad thing as I am able to stay toned.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Amanda: What excited me most when I first started modeling was the realization that in pictures, I can be anyone I want to. I can be an angel in one shoot, and a marathon runner in another. There is no limit to what we can create today in photos, and I still think that is truly amazing.

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Amanda: I would tell them to stick to their values. If they decide they don’t want to do nudes, don’t do nudes. Some photographers may try and pressure you, however, do what you feel comfortable with. Today photography is a blessing and a curse. It’s wonderful in that because of the internet, we will have digital photos forever. However, that also means that bad photos will also stick around!

GlamModelz Magazine: Amanda, due to the current state of the economy in the U.S. have you noticed any major changes in the industry within your geographical area? Amanda: Because I am relatively new to the industry, I have not seen many major changes. However, because of the current state of the economy, I can only assume that the job market could be better. Hopefully once the country is in better shape, all industries including modeling will grow and provide more jobs.

GlamModelz Magazine: The Modeling reality TV shows have created quite an interest in modeling these days. Can you offer any advice for those interested in getting their big brake? Any Tips for models wishing to do it sooner rather then later? Amanda: My advice to those trying to get their big break would be to work hard at it, but remember that it’s a tough industry to get into. I think education is very important. I’ve heard many young girls say they want to be models, but don’t prepare themselves if that does not happen for them. I recommend going out and working with many different photographers and trying new themes. However, at the same time, girls should keep going to school because they may have other passions in life they did not even know about.

GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers online portfolio’s, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them? Amanda: I always love a photographer’s use of contrast in their portfolios. For me, that is one of the most eye-grabbing parts of a picture. The images that make me want to shoot with a certain photographer are those that are a little bit edgy. I love seeing work that is unique and yet to be done.

GlamModelz Magazine: It appears to us that most eye candy magazines are fixated on some part of the female anatomy. Tell us what do you think your best assets are? Amanda: I think my best asset is my hair. My mom blessed me with thick dark hair. When I was younger, I wished that I had blonde hair like many of my friends. I always thought about dying it. However, as I got older, I realized that being a brunette amongst a group of blondes just made me unique and that I should appreciate it.
