5 New Year Resolutions That Will Enhance the Quality of Your Photographs

Home Tips & Tricks   5 New Year Resolutions That Will Enhance the Quality of Your Photographs

This New Year, make resolutions that will help you overcome the issues associated with your photographs and take your photography to a higher level. Here are a couple of resolutions that you must choose in order to succeed as a professional photographer.

Learn The Proper Use of Camera

If you have skipped reading your camera’s manual, have been arbitrarily using the buttons, and doing a lot of ‘hits and trials’, let’s promise to go through the manuals and learn about each and every button present in our camera. Most photographers, especially the amateurs are not completely versed with their camera accessories and keep spending a lot of time and effort fiddling with the settings.

Avoid Using The Auto Setting

If you have been extremely dependent on using the auto setting of your camera, it’s time to dump the dubious settings and learn to use the manual ones. The auto modes are never accurate; moreover, they restrict you from experimenting with your photography accessories and getting unique results. Initially you will have to invest a lot of time learning the functionalities but once you get a clear idea of what the setting can do, you will be free from the monotonous auto setting functions.

Don’t Run Behind The Latest Gear

Accept the fact that taking awesome pictures do not necessarily requires you to possess the most expensive and advanced photography equipments. Even a cheap camera can give you awesome results. So stop blaming your photographic gear and start experimenting with whatever you have. Hunt around and make things that you don’t have, For example; if you don’t have a flash diffuser, use a white paper to make one. Do not limit your creativity simply because you don’t have something.

Dump Down The Photography Flash

This resolution is very useful for candid photographers. The more you are dependent on ambient light, the better results you will get. Adding an extra light can snatch away the natural look of your photographs. Moreover, unless you are an expert in using strobe flash, it will be difficult to predict the results they will give you and therefore, it’s best to stay away from them.

Accept Critiques

Even renowned photographers get a lot of criticism; that’s a part of any professional career. Accept them in a positive way and improve your weak areas. This way, you will not only remain motivated but also will be able to polish your skills.

Let’s work together and make 2013 as beautiful as our photographs!
