Behind the scenes within the Glamour Industry are rarely seen artists we rely on to touch-up our masterpieces. We usually do not have the opportunity to explore the personal vision of these mulitalented artists. Recently GlamModelz own Jeff, One Digital Place discovered someone extraordinary, a true artist, pushing the envelope of imagination and fantasy and we just cannot resist showcasing her brilliant work. GlamModelz Magazine is please to present one such artist. Joe Diamond, all the way from Romania.
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you feel about being a female in a male dominated industry, what challenges do you face? Any resentment? Any other words of wisdom for female digital artists? Joe: I don’t see it as a male or female industry but rather much more like a creativity and skill contest. Indeed visual perspectives are different, but as long as you like what you are doing and you do it with passion, you are competitive.
GlamModelz Magazine: Your work style and concepts are cutting edge from sexy glamour, to fantasy sci-fi and even Horror. What inspires you and how do these projects develop? Do you ever have the opportunity to just “wing it” and do as you feel? What would be your favorite subject choice? Joe: I’m very interested in a balanced, creative and eye-catching outcome. In order to achieve this you have to pay close attention to details such as the pose of the model, what she/he is wearing, light, contrast, accessories, what the clients want, colors and so on. My inspiration comes from everywhere, even from a leaf that’s falling, from a cup of coffee or just from watching people. I don’t have a favorite style, I’m versatile, I love all styles, but the most important aspect is that I feel a connection with future projects.
GlamModelz Magazine: Our readers really want to know what your favored editing programs are and any tips or tricks you care to share with us? Joe: I am basically working with Photoshop CS 6, I don’t use plugins because now I know how to achieve those effects from PS actions. I also played with Cinema 4D for text effects and Illustrator for logos. The trick is continue studying, therefore I study beauty to have a professional perspective, I study lights and shadows for skills and I make some creativity baths from great digital artists to get inspiration.
GlamModelz Magazine: On the average edit, how long do you spending editing your work? Joe: It depends on the work. A single work could take anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 week or more; it depends on details and how many images are used to create the composition.
GlamModelz Magazine: Tell me about your background Joe…how did you get started in Digital Art? Joe: Actually I started from playing, literally. I used to play mmorpg and because I am a competitive person. I joined some forum signatures contests. After I learned a 700 pages book of Photoshop in 7 days, I start winning every time. 🙂
GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a artist overall, Who are your mentors? Joe: My inspirational father was my first inspiration, and the one and only Louis Royo. I also love Salvador Dali and a young painter from Romania (my country) by the name of Adrian Borda.
GlamModelz Magazine: How would you best describe your personal style? Joe: My personal style is versatile in concepts but still a realistic style. I am trying to create very realistic images so people tend to think that it is indeed a real image that they are looking at.
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your Art? Other goals? Joe: My goal is to have a professional studio, to get involved in to all aspects of creating the image, ranging from choosing the wardrobe designer, make up, lights, pose, the photo shoot and finally post production. I am planning to learn more about 3D programs in order to create some more realistic pieces and props that I need to compose my image.
GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Photographers and Models have to work with you on your personal projects? Joe: I wish I could do some personal projects but at this moment I am overloaded with requests. But in case we work together on a project I need my clients to be communicative, to tell me all the details they want or do not want in the image so the outcome will be exactly as they desire.
GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur digital artists who want to get into this? Joe: Practice, then more practice and lots of patience makes for perfect images. No one knows everything from the start. So I really think that it is so very important to be passionate, to have plenty of patience and to practice constantly, so that you can always improve your skills and techniques and ultimately the image.
GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Joe: I got published in Advanced Photoshop Magazine, which is a very famous and well-respected magazine in digital industry.
GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to digital art, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Joe: I am also a make up artist and I used to to be a tae bo fitness trainer and participated in local competitions.
GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you? Joe: I am a professional, I am very fastidious with myself to get the perfection which is of course in the eyes of the beholder. I respect my client’s requests all the way down to the smallest little details and I still complete the projects in a reasonable period time.
