There are works in the Glamour Industry that one would consider beautiful and skillfully crafted, and then there are those images that make your chin hit the ground in amazement! GlamModelz Magazine interviewed a creator of many such images, all the way from Seattle, WA – Digital Artist …NeoRacer! (Perry to a few)
GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started! Tell me about your background…Why do you peruse this style of art and how did you get started? Perry: I’ve always been interested in ‘Pin Up’s since I was a kid, I was a fan of Marilyn Monroe who is the ultimate pin up girl! Also Playboy further inspired me in how they create a beautiful centerfold image. So I started to developed my own style of digital work since 1997 when I first got Photoshop and have been doing it ever since.
GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as an artist? What aspects if any have you let influence your work today? Perry: There are so many other great artists & inspirations out there but one who really kick starts my imagination is ‘J.Scott Campbell’ He is a brilliant comic book artist and does phenomenal artwork of sexy girls!
GlamModelz Magazine: You style seems to comes off with a glamorous action hero, look and feel about it. Do you prefer this genera and do you have other styles as well? Perry: I always try to glamorize the girls into fantastic situations and not just do a ‘pretty girl’ picture. I try to incorporate a theme or idea into the over all picture that relates to either the person or things they like. I often request such ideas from the models to help me shape the concept!
GlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could? Perry: I would just like more time to work on them! Its not my full time job just a hobby. So who knows maybe one day it will be my real ‘job’!
GlamModelz Magazine: What equipment is essential for you as a glamour artist, to create your “best shot”? and what processes do you use to produce a typical piece? Perry: All I need is my Wacom Tablet, Photoshop and an idea But it all starts with the idea, the model as inspiration. From there I can work out the situation and pose which is the most important thing. Then the outfit and background follows from that. It can take 6-12+ hrs to finish a picture total depending on how complicated it is but I have the process down.
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals for your art? Other goals? Perry: Just to keep improving my ability to ‘see’ and also learn new techniques that might further enhance and individualize my work from someone elses.
GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Models have to work with you? Perry: It always works BEST when the person has a good idea and theme for what they want in mind, and that’s unique to them! I can always just go off and create anything but when its focused like that, they will love the result more!
GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new/amateur artists who want to create your unique style of glamour art? Perry: Its just down to practice, learning to formulate their own style and stand out from everyone else. Do what you love above all!
GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Perry: Ultimately I would love to get more of my work in magazines just like ‘GlamModelz’ so this is already a big accomplishment for me! But overall when I made a piece of art that someone really appreciates is the biggest thrill for me!
GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models who want to work with you? Perry: Just come to me with your own unique idea for what you want and let me do the rest..:)
GlamModelz Magazine: In addition to photography and art, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Perry: My main job over the past 15 years has been a video game Animator & Cinematic Artist which in fact lead me into taking pictures using some of those skills I learned.
