We look forward to seeing many great things from Carmendy in the very near future.
GlamModelz Magazine: Welcome to GlamModelz Magazine Carmendy!
GlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business? Carmendy: I got my start in the business firstly having the idea to give my husband some nice photos for our wedding anniversary. My shoot went really well and I surprising enjoyed it more than I though I would. When the pictures were ready I was amazed to see how well they turned out and have since been looking forward to getting the opportunity to do another shoot!
GlamModelz Magazine: Posing 101 any suggestions to newer models coming into the business? Carmendy: You are all beautiful so don’t let anyone ever tell you any different. Believe in yourself and remember you are great because of what you do not because of what you look like. Looking good just helps…
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with Implied and Nude posing? Carmendy: From an artistic point of view I think nude posing can be a good thing. Many photographers know that nude posing can be the best way to express emotion, feeling and beauty. Then on the other hand when nude posing is used for the purposes of pornography I think that is degrading and actually works in the opposite way of expressing beauty because I do not think those kind of pictures are beautiful at all. If nude is used in a classy way and the pictures can be appreciated by women and not just men then it is worth while. I would personally not pose nude unless I was 100% trusting toward my photographer not to use them in an inappropriate way, I do however think that implied is a fun in-between and always leaves a little to the imagination!
GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of Family, Friends and loved ones with your modeling? Carmendy: My family and friends are very supportive of me, they know me as a person and not just for what I look like which means that they trust the decisions that I make and know that I wouldn’t be doing this if I thought in any way that it was not in my best interests. As long as I am having fun and doing what I enjoy they will always be happy. They also know my limits and that I have a good head on my shoulders and that I would not let anyone take advantage of me or make my decisions for me.
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts on the whole escort issue? Carmendy: I would have to say that I agree with the idea of having an escort if you feel that you may be uncomfortable with the photographer or if you have not shot with the photographer before. On the other hand if you feel uncomfortable with the photographer it may not be in your best interest to shoot with them in the first place! I would also agree that an escort may not always be a good idea if the model is easily distracted or if the escort is insecure which can result in negatively affecting the shoot and making the photographer and the models job harder.
GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model standpoint? Carmendy: I would love to see them be a bit more lenient when it comes to the height of the model! It seems like most of the models who would be considered more attractive are more on the shorter side!
GlamModelz Magazine: Your thoughts on TFP or TFCD sessions in general? Carmendy: I think it’s a great idea especially if the model is just starting out, also for the photographer if they are just starting out and trying to get their name out there. It is up to the individual.
GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Carmendy: How fantastic my pictures turned out, if I had have know how good I could look I would have started this a long time ago!
GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model portfolio? Carmendy: I absolutely think that a model needs to show diversity, no photographer wants to see the same old pictures every time. A model needs to know how to create different looks in order to show creativity and build a good portfolio.
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection? from photographers, agencies and your piers? Carmendy: I think rejection is necessary, if everything came easily you would never learn how to adapt and change. Being rejected is a lesson to build from and make you stronger. Of course if all you are getting is rejection that also might be telling you that there may be something that needs to be improved upon.
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections.. and how important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Carmendy: Everyone has imperfections it’s just a matter of concentrating on your better assets and making those the point of focus. Professional make up sure would come in handy I know it would save a lot of time but for those who do their own make-up that’s just another talent that you have!
