GlamModel DAvia LaVae
GlamModelz Magazine is pleased to introduce a new face to the Fashion, Glamour, Beauty Modeling industry, DAvia LaVae of Norman, Oklahoma. Her obvious beauty is matched not only by her desire to succeed as a model, but the amazing potential that she possesses. We look forward to seeing many great things from DAvia LaVae in the very near future.
GlamModelz Magazine: Welcome to GlamModelz Magazine DAvia LaVae!
GlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business? DAvia LaVae: The day I turned 18, I went into a modeling school and told them I wanted a contract with an agency; and not have to pay a school to teach me what I knew I could already do. I had to wait until I was 18, since my mom wouldn’t let me do modeling when I was younger. The next day the agency contacted me and got me a promo job at a university, a Dillards fragrance job, and Revlon Holiday Job…and I just kept with it from there.
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? DAvia LaVae: To have fun, travel as often as possible, earn great income, and meet great contacts and to do it as long as I can.
GlamModelz Magazine: What have been your greatest successes to date? DAvia LaVae: I would say the fashion shows; a lot of girls claim they are models; but are only 5 feet tall. I get to make good income doing runway shows in other states where fashion is booming; and to me, that is real modeling and what I’ve always wanted to do.
GlamModelz Magazine: When working with a photographer do you bring your own concepts and idea’s as well as working with theirs? DAvia LaVae I like to collaborate with the photographer and other artists; but I always have my own vision in my mind…but putting it together with another talent is always the best.
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with Implied and Nude posing? DAvia LaVae: I think it is great as long as it’s professional and classy. I have no problem with nudity, I love my body. I think people who dislike it; haven’t seen it done tastefully or are insecure or jealous.
GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of Family, Friends and loved ones with your modeling? DAvia LaVae: Yes, yes, yes!
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts on the whole escort issue? DAvia LaVae: I think it is very important to always have someone go with you; it also makes the shoot easier to have your escort as a helper to the photographer if needed. Safety is very important…I think you should always have an escort!
GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model standpoint? DAvia LaVae: Higher standards. These days, everyone thinks they are a model or photographer. I think a real model is naturally attractive, fit, and has the body. Most “models” I see are all plastic and had to buy everything on their body from their breasts to lips and eyelashes. Also, a lot of people buy a camera and call their selves a photographer. Not Fair.
GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? DAvia LaVae: I actually read a lot of self-help and motivational articles and books that help me realize you only have one body, and how important it is to take care of it! I also keep a daily goal chart handy to help me stay on track!
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? DAvia LaVae: I just am upfront and let them know I only am interested in professional offers; and simply decline.
GlamModelz Magazine: Your thoughts on TFP or TFCD sessions in general? DAvia LaVae: I think it’s great, I think modeling and photography can be just as great as a hobby; than as a career. Sometimes on a nice day, I like to just test shoot with my favorite photographers for fun; and not for work only purposes.
GlamModelz Magazine: Any suggestions to models about wardrobe? What to have and where to find deals? DAvia LaVae: Consignment shops! You can always find vintage or odd pieces that stand out great in photographs there; at great pricing. If you are like me, you usually only wear something once in photoshoots…so shops like this are great for good bargains; and you never know what you will find.
GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? DAvia LaVae: The opportunity to create amazing art and to get paid for being myself.
GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this?? DAvia LaVae: I never really did, I just try to be myself and try to use my eyes a lot.
GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model portfolio? DAvia LaVae: Of course. I get so bored looking at portfolios with just naked shots or bikini shots. I think a real model should have it all in her portfolio! Colorful, edgy, sexy, casual, commercial and wild shots. I think she should be able to transform her look in many different ways!
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection? from photographers, agencies and your piers? DAvia LaVae: I just move along; most likely their best friend will love me!
GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections.. and how important do you feel professional make up is to a model? DAvia LaVae: I’ve learned to embrace them, they make you unique. We all can’t look like Barbie. Makeup defiantly helps create new looks though, and is great about helping with some flaws.
GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? DAvia LaVae: Never settle for less than what you deserve and to take it seriously; and try hard even when you get rejected a million times!
