GlamModelz Magazine is pleased to introduce a new face to the Fashion, Glamour, Beauty Modeling industry, Katie Ann of Edmond,  Oklahoma. Her obvious beauty is matched not only by her desire to succeed as a model, but the amazing potential that she possesses. We look forward to seeing many great things from Katie Ann in the very near future.

GlamModelz Magazine: Welcome to GlamModelz Magazine Katie Ann!

gmc-katie-annGlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business? Katie Ann: Well, when I was a little girl I always liked to dress up and be in front of the camera. I actually didn’t start getting serious though until I was at a car show in Arkansas when I was asked to do some feature modeling for Cambered and SoLo Films DVD. I had no clue what I was doing but surprisingly everything turned out great. So I just went with it and kept pushing my way into any opportunity that came about and here I am today. I may not be famous but I’m proud of all the success I’ve made so far.

GlamModelz Magazine: When working with a photographer do you bring your own concepts and idea’s as well as working with theirs? Katie Ann: Yes, before any shoot I know that’s coming up I always try to think of what ideas would be unique and stand out. If you happen to have never shot with a new photographer you may never know… they could have the imagination of a box of rocks. You don’t want to show up and have to stress throughout the shoot. Thankfully, I haven’t had that experience yet but I always come prepared.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your thoughts and issues with Implied and Nude posing? Katie Ann: I have no problems personally. It really depends on the way the model is portrayed. There is a big difference that most people refuse to see between artistic nude and porn star nude. I can harp on this all day but people tend to have their opinions and stick with them. Any advice to other models I can give out is to just go with what YOU feel would be best for you and your career because if we all took time to listen to others opinions on various forms of modeling we would never get anything done.

KATIE-ANN-8GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle the inappropriate offers and sometimes rude individuals when they contact you for a session together? Katie Ann: You’re going to deal with people like this in everyday life so I suggest to anybody to get some thick skin and learn to put your foot down if you feel something isn’t right. I’ve been bombarded with scam offers since I started getting busier with my modeling. You cannot be afraid to turn people down because if they are truly in the professional industry they should be able to take a professional attitude with what you feel is inappropriate or not. If you feel uncomfortable just let them know, you don’t have to be rude about it. Either give them a different suggestion you feel more comfortable with or just tell them “No thank you.”

GlamModelz Magazine: Any suggestions to models about wardrobe? What to have and where to find deals? Katie Ann: It’s always important to talk to whoever you are shooting with and get a concept of what you may be doing. The past few photographers I’ve worked with have laughed at me and my giant suitcase of every outfit you can think of I’ve toted along. I always say it’s best to show up prepared and have a variation of everything than to show up and have nothing to work with.

GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Katie Ann: I was just so excited about getting to try different things. I’ve always loved really odd pictures and like to act them out with my own personal twist. That’s what I love most about modeling is that you get to express yourself and style in each picture without saying a word, it’s fantastic!

KATIE-ANN-6GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this?? Katie Ann: Oh facial expressions. I can go on and on about this since it’s the one thing I would drive myself crazy about when I shot and got my proofs back. You have to be relaxed but concentrate really hard all at once. Don’t ever get too comfortable is what I always tell myself. I used to have a problem with pooching out my lower lip without realizing it. Gradually I started to realize my facial habits and got them under control. To be real honest to get warmed up for a shoot I will do a variation of faces in the mirror to get that feel of what looks good and what doesn’t. It may look silly but it makes for a better photo!

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle rejection? from photographers, agencies and your piers? Katie Ann: I learned from stupid ex boyfriends how to handle rejection the right way before I even started modeling. You can’t take anything to heart. Thick skin is a must when it comes to anything from this profession to everyday life. Now I’m not saying that everything I’ve been rejected on hasn’t hurt from time to time but you learn that everything happens for a reason, honestly. I’ve learned to just take the advice you are given and make what you will of it. Rejection is what helps develop people I think.

GlamModelz Magazine: How do you handle imperfections.. and how important do you feel professional make up is to a model? Katie Ann: Okay to everybody out there… we all have imperfections! Nobody is perfect! I don’t know how many times I’ve had to pretty much yell that at my friends. There are things that annoy me about myself but if you don’t let other people know that it bothers you, chances are they aren’t even going to notice. And on professional make up, I honestly haven’t used a professional artist just yet. I’ve practiced make up since I was young and know what looks good in a shoot and what doesn’t but I would love to use a make up artist someday because it’s hard to do crazy make up on my own sometimes.

GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Katie Ann: Don’t hold back! Don’t let others push you where you don’t want to go. Just be who you are and fight for the goals you are striving to achieve. Tell yourself nobody will get in your way or hold you back. You have to believe in yourself before anybody else is going to believe in you.
