GlamModel Marshana Revisited
Just about one year ago, GlamModelz Magazine, Beauty Editor Jett-Ray, interviewed Marshana for our premiere issue. We thought it would be fun to catch-up with Marshana and see where her career has taken her within the past year. Having the opportunity to interview Marshana myself is not only a pleasure, but also an honor.
GlamModelz Magazine: It’s been a year Marshana!.. so what’s new?? How are you feeling? Marshana: I feel amazing! Despite our economic crisis, I can’t help but to smile everyday. I’m 23 and blessed to be able to say that at my age, I’m living out my dream. I may work hard and very often but that comes with the territory. This is the lifestyle I chose and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else…except for maybe some cheesecake, haha
GlamModelz Magazine: What’s been keeping you so busy in 2009? Marshana: Gosh, well of coarse I am always shooting! I have work in retail, recently started working as an art model for The Society Of Fine Arts, I do various promotional events and trade shows, as well as workshops, and have even started to dip my fingers in the acting pool!
GlamModelz Magazine: Acting? You think you will trade acting for modeling? Marshana: No way! Haha, however in a sense I often feel like I am acting when modeling. After all, when you are looking to portray a certain look or concept you have to wrap your mind around that particular concept. I’m not a sad person, but if I were to take a shot and my mission was to have everyone depressed then I have to take myself to a different mindset that will project that. Mostly I would be interested in commercial work, although I’d love the opportunity to try some other roles!
GlamModelz Magazine: What type of promotions have you been involved in? Marshana: All kinds! From wine tastings, to in store demos. I’ve worked with companies such as Axe, Jay Robb, Verizon, Coke Zero, Estee Lauder, Gallo Wine, etc! I work with Dallassight.com along side some other lovely ladies giving a voice to what’s hot in Dallas. Whether it be the hippest club, elegant restaurant, fashion show, charity event…if it’s the place to be in Dallas, then we are always more than welcome and excited to showcase it on our site! Working with them, I even got the opportunity to meet Paul Wall at K104 studios and interview him, he’s really quite a nice guy…funny too! I also just recently have been featured on 102.1 The Edge, check me out!
GlamModelz Magazine: You mentioned art modeling, do you feel your style in modeling has changed much over the year? Marshana: You bet! When I look back at my work I kind of go “awe” like you would viewing a puppy haha. I love all my past work. I’ve just gained more experience and really have tapped in to my free spirited nature. I’m more aware of my body and I’m not afraid to be myself. That’s the beauty of it…I love being able to express myself whether I’m feeling sassy, sexy, sensitive, silly, or just plain creative!
GlamModelz Magazine: So tell us, what is it about you that you think has granted you continuous success? Marshana: Honestly being optimistic, humble and professional. I respect everyone, even when I’m not shown the same respect. I don’t have it in me to hold onto negativity, nor do I care to. I’m down to earth, and cherish everything around me….tomorrow is not promised, I think some of us forget that! I network all the time, I’m not afraid to try something new, and I help others along the way the best I can. I am a firm believer in good karma!
GlamModelz Magazine: With that being said, what if today was your last day? Would you be happy with what you’ve accomplished thus far in your career? Marshana: Yes! I’ve worked extremely hard and I constantly push myself to improve with each event, shoot, heck, each shot! I’ve worked with some amazing photographers and have created beautiful images that I’m so very proud of! I look at things as if I’m in a competition with myself. I may love an image to death, but I will always be asking myself what I can do to improve!
GlamModelz Magazine: Where can people go if they want to keep up with your work and see what you are up to? Marshana: You can always check me out on modelmayhem.com (#590485) Also via Myspace at myspace.com/divinenlovely86 , and also on Dallassight.com !
GlamModelz Magazine: Any last thoughts, comments, out to our viewers at glam? Marshana: I just want to thank my family, friends, fans, as well as all the photographers that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. In particular, Jeff of Visions East whom I’ve worked hand and hand with over the past year! I’m a mover and shaker and a force to be reckoned with! I’m in motion and picking up momentum by the minute, very excited to see what lies in my cards in the future, but you can expect big things!
