While you are out doing your holiday shopping, fully dressed in all your glamorous splendor and ready to shop til you drop, don’t forget to put on the most important accessory of the season…Charity.
Below, you can browse the link list of some of GlamModelz Magazine’s favorite charitable organizations…but don’t stop there ’cause we’ve got some shopping to do! Be sure to scroll down for great online shopping ideas that are sure to satisfy your love for Glam and your love for others.
The American Humane Association
Founded in 1877, the American Humane Association is the only national organization dedicated to protecting both children and animals. A nonprofit membership organization, American Humane is headquartered in Denver.
What does it mean to be humane? It’s an innate desire to protect our children, or compassion to care for an animal in need. And it’s our hope to live among people who feel the same.
We are advocates for animals, raising awareness and supporting legislation to end animal cruelty. We are advocates for children, putting a stop to child abuse, neglect and exploitation. And we are advocates for our communities, exposing the link between animal abuse and other kinds of societal violence. We are humane.
Donate to American Humane and help us to continue our mission:
“…to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively, and humanely guaranteed by an aware and caring society.” http://www.americanhumane.org
National Alliance to End Homelessness:
• Between 150,000 to 200,000 people are homeless for long periods or have repeated episodes of homelessness. The solution is permanent supportive housing.
• Most Americans underestimate how the problem of homelessness affects families. About 600,000 families and 1.35 million children experience homelessness in the United States. Homeless people suffer from high rates of mental and physical health problems often exacerbated by living on the streets and in shelters.
• Everyone finds transitioning to adulthood difficult, but homeless adolescents have even greater obstacles to overcome. Approximately 8 percent of American youth experience homelessness each year.
• Too many veterans have no place to return home. On any given night, as many as 200,000 veterans are living on the street or in shelter.
• Victims of domestic violence sometimes have to choose between leaving their home or losing their life. 13 percent of homeless families report domestic violence as the cause of their homelessness.
• Homeless people suffer from high rates of mental and physical health problems often exacerbated by living on the streets and in shelters. Go to: http://www.endhomelessness.org to learn more.
M-A-C AIDS Fund
• VIVA GLAM
In 1994, M•A•C first launched VIVA GLAM, an outspoken deep red that was universal in its appeal and its glamour. In the spirit of all VIVA GLAM, every cent raised goes to the M•A•C AIDS Fund to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.
M-A-C GOOD SPIRITS MAKEUP PROGRAM
The M-A-C Good Spirits Makeup Program provides beauty and skincare techniques for HIV-Positive individuals, helping to restore their appearance and self-image. Professional makeup artists from M-A-C Cosmetics offer their expertise in treating the side effects produced by various AIDS conferences throughout the United States. Each participant will also receive complimentary MAC Cosmetic samples for use both during and after the session. Go to M•A•CAIDSFUND.org to read more.
Let’s go Shopping!
There are only 20 shopping days left til Christmas!!
Whether you’re shopping for yourself or for someone else, the $$ you spend on these items will go a long way to help others.
Goodshop.com “While individuals still want to support their favorite cause, they may not have the time or the money to do so. There is a solution. More than 70,000 nonprofits have partnered with a new Yahoo-powered search engine called GoodSearch.com, and an online shopping mall – GoodShop.com – to enable their supporters to generate donations just by doing something they already do everyday – search the Internet or shop online. What makes the system so compelling is that it doesn’t cost the users a thing. It’s a form of philanthropy that works for everyone in this tough economy!”
