shelby_5294GMC-copySometimes new models come to me with the energy and enthusiasm hoping to discover a dream. Some of these models leave a lasting impact on the eyes. Others leave an impact on the heart. Very few of these models have that especial beauty that runs deep into their inner soul and Arcadia fits that category so perfectly. GlamModel; Arcadia, from Sacramento, California, brings that same fresh, new prospective to the modeling industry and the same to GlamModelz Magazine. Arcadia may be new to professional modeling, but do not under estimate her abilities in front of the camera. She is a true professional in every sense of the word! Besides her ability to turn on her natural charm Arcadia has her stunning beauty and her refined ability to pose herself without assistance, in a very flattering way time and time again. Arcadia loves the hot stuff and is very comfortable with the poses and her own skin. But because of her gorgeous beauty features and perfect figure I can hardly wait to shoot some high-end beauty and commercial fashion work with her. GlamModelz Magazine knows Arcadia is going to be taking the NorCal modeling industry by storm and we look forward to following her career as she jets into super stardom.

What are your thoughts and issues with implied and nude posing? What is your favorite genera of modeling?

I think that the human body is so naturally beautiful, and sometime less is better for certain artistic shots. You need to be very confident in your body and poses! Confidence comes with experience, experience comes from practice and shooting a lot. There is no better way to learn poses than practicing in front of a mirror and not just once, do it once a day for several months. I made up my own little jazzercise routine and pose in the mirror really fast for 30 minutes nonstop. Pay close attention to how your body looks bending and twisting, remember the poses that are most flattering and, of course remember the poses that are not flattering, so that you do not ever do an unflattering pose in front of the camera.

I do a lot of art and glamour nudes, so I really checked out new photographers. I want to caution new models, whether you are posing nude or clothed, do your homework! Checkout the photographer thoroughly! That is a biggie with me and should be with every new model that is looking for a photographer that you do not personally know… Do your homework!

As for what I personally like to shoot. I love Art, Fashion and Beauty, commercial work is always fun and so is editorial. I shoot a lot of Glamour and I love it too. My favorite genera is glamour nudes, especially with glitter and furs (fake fur of course!!). It is extremely important to have a robust diverse portfolio!

I have been trying to really branch out lately and I have been getting a lot of notice and complements for doing that! Generally I feel it’s the models job to portray the photographer’s vision as an artist. I have always strive to not fit any kind of mold, in modeling and in everyday life, so I’m glad hear photographers are happy when working with me. The Glam style of modeling, just naturally lives within me and shows so well on film, besides what woman doesn’t want to feel sexy? hahaha”.

shelby_5344a-copy“I am asked all of the time; how I stay in shape. I guess I just have one of those metabolisms, because I don’t really do anything special. I dance as often as possible. I love to dance! I love the outdoors and go camping with my roommates as often as possible. My roomies are my family, we do everything together. They’re very supportive of my modeling.

‘I’m very concerned with my image and photos, because of this I work closely with my photographers before, during and after the photoshoot. When I first started I didn’t realize that haggling with models over concepts is something photographers really love. I love it too! I feel a model should be concerned about the pictures, especially when she is shooting for her own usage. The spontaneous photos are going to happen and everyone enjoys those too, but as for myself, I get motivated with a solid plan for success!”

“My next shoot and the one after that is the only thing I think about! All of the time! Always!  I am constantly shopping, surfing the net for props and clothing and experimenting with fashion, makeup and hair ideas and concepts.  My inspiration comes from various media, fashion trends, my favorite models and the best of the best from the past.

Sometimes you may feel that a certain gig may not “be you” but I would highly encourage you to go through with it. It’s the only way you are going to grow as a model and you just might be surprised with some awesome images. Sometimes let the photographer lead the creative process. Sometimes I like to drive the process, but usually you will find the collaboration make everyone happy.”

There is a lot to think about in preparation to shoot. There is just as much to consider after the shoot. You need to be able to critique your work effectively. Listen to others for their constructive comments and learn from it. I will say this again, because this is the bottom line: You are only as good as your worst picture!”

shelby_5368-copyWhen I can tell that a photographer puts in an equal or greater amount of effort into a photo shoot as the models do, then I will always want to shoot with them. A portfolio full of crisp, clear images, along with creative and clever concepts, added to just right lighting and you will always capture my full attention.

In this industry you will have to have thick skin. No matter how beautiful you are, your look will not fit everyone’s needs. Negative feedback happens, but unless its constructive criticism, you need to treat it like its noise in the background.

I get asked for a lot of advice on wardrobe and beauty secrets. When deciding on wardrobe, always bring backups. You never know when you’ll need something extra. Go to thrift stores, Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret and Fredrick’s of Hollywood, all are very affordable. I think smart makeup choices are essential.

I feel the most unique, beautiful photography is the photo that SHOW your imperfections. I think every girl should love herself fully, flaws and all. and it’s okay if those flaws show! Any girl can perfect herself with makeup and conform to mainstream beauty. What’s really beautiful is a girl who’s confident in her own skin, knowing that it may not fit everyone’s idea of “perfection”.

“Many of my girlfriends have been asking what it’s like to model. Well, it’s terrifying, exhilarating and so liberating all at once. A Photoshoot is one of those little once in a lifetime experiences every woman needs to experience for herself, there is really no other way to explain it… If for no other reason you might learn some tricks to improve your selfies. 😛 ”

Ever viewed your images after a shoot and wondered why the model looks too blue or red? Or the vibrant colors in a skyline aren't quite what you remembered them to be? Chances are, the culprit is an incorrect white-balance setting. Just as you can change the lens aperture or camera shutter speed to affect exposure, white balance settings can also be changed to affect the overall color tones of the image. At my studio lighting ...

GlamModel: Sandi

A lot of models have crossed my threshold in the past 40 years. I’m always a bit apprehensive on our first shoot. Stunning young women try to start off the shoot with their best foot forward and set the mood for a successful day. After a while it’s easy to see through this façade and into the inner beauty within. Sandi never fit into that category. From our first meeting I could see her natural ...
