GlamModelz Magazine interviews Glam Model Courtney Fox of Orlando, Florida. Courtney, is a new model on the scene working hard to become an established model. GlamModelz Magazine is proud to be the first magazine to bring you this beautiful talented young lady and give you some of her insights on the world of Glam.
courtney-fox-gmcGlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business Courtney Fox, and what goals have your set for yourself?  Courtney: I actually got my start by talking to a friend I had a class with in high school, she referred me to a girl named Emma Rose who models. I was so excited I wrote her on Facebook right away. I asked her how she got into modeling, how can I get into modeling and of course I looked at her portfolio and complimented her on how amazing her beautifully done her shots were. She wrote back eager to help me reach my goals, very enthusiastic on getting me where I needed to be. A few weeks after talking with her she invited me to a group shoot in Orlando, FL about 2 years ago and I absolutely loved it. I’ve never felt so alive in my life. I met a lot of people that shared the same passion as me and got some great shots. Since then I have enough shots to make a portfolio and won’t stop there. I plan to better myself each time I shoot by looking out for imperfections I and others might think will hold me back.

GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Courtney: My goals in life are to live comfortably and not struggle living paycheck to paycheck, chasing my dreams while doing it. Then someday I want to settle down with a family, and travel the country and parts of the world, As far as my modeling career I want to go as far and the industry will take me; big time magazines, TV, movies etc. I want to travel to big cities in New York and California and even to foreign countries and exotic islands. I have big goals for my life and career and I intend to accomplish all of them

DSCF0106GlamModelz DSCF0046Magazine: When working on concepts for upcoming shoots, how much thought or effort do you put into it? Where does your inspiration come from? Courtney: I get extremely excited about shooting so I put a lot of effort into getting clothes, makeup and whatever else I need as long as I keep it within a budget and depending on what kind of shoot it is, shoots that are more casual I can put together outfits with stuff that I have so there isn’t as much preparation while shoots that have a specific theme for a holiday or something I like to get creative with. Along with shopping around for clothes and things I use Social media sites such as Pinterest, Facebook, or Instagram to get inspiration for clothing ideas, accessories, and props for the shoot.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any thoughts or suggestions to models about wardrobe? Such as what to have and where to find deals? Courtney: I’m all about wardrobe and sales, if you want really good deals shopping online is a really great idea. There’s an app called “wish” that have very cheap, accessories, clothes, makeup, whatever you can think of the most likely have it. Another site that’s a lot like wish is Amazon. But if you’re feeling like you want to get out and shop with the girls, there are places like Ross, Burlington and even good will have good deals on cute merchandise. If you take time to look around your local mall you can find good deals as well!

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this?  Courtney: for me it wasn’t something learned it was more of something that came natural which I think is a good thing because you see a lot of models out there and you look at their pictures and it just looks like they’re trying too hard and it ruins the picture. Many photographers have commented saying that I have a great modeling face and that my eyes look good in pictures and to me it wasn’t something I was trying to do it just came naturally and it made me more motivated during the shoot because the pictures come out so good

DSCF0017GlamModelz Magazine: Courtney, due to the current state of the economy in the U.S. have you noticed any major changes in the industry within your geographical area? Courtney: Well as we all know our economy isn’t in the best shape compared to past years which in turn makes it harder for people to get jobs and make a living and I think a lot more girls are trying to get into modeling now as a way to make money and it makes it even harder for girls to make it in the modeling industry because there is so much competition out there now. I’ve noticed a pretty big increase in girls having modeling pictures on social media sites in the past year or so and bigger turnouts at modeling events and some of the models are really good and it pushes me to stay ahead of the game and do what it takes to stand out over the rest.

GlamModelz Magazine: The Modeling reality TV shows have created quite an interest in modeling these days. Can you offer any advice for those interested in getting their big break? Any Tips for models wishing to do it sooner rather than later? Courtney: Get yourself out there as much as you can. Talk to everyone and anyone you think could help you reach your goals, build a portfolio and rock every photoshoots you do. Challenge yourself to go beyond your limits, think outside the box and never ever give up!

GlamModelz Magazine: I have noticed you spend a great deal of time maintaining your portfolio on Do you feel this is an important factor to your success as a model? Courtney: I feel like this is a crucial factor in anyone’s success as a model. If you want to be at the top or get into the big modeling agencies you want people to see you so you have to get yourself out there as much as you can. You can be the best model around but if nobody sees you you’ll never get yourself out there, it’s also important to keep active on your page and keep it updated that way the people who do see it will see current things and know that it’s something that you’re serious about.

DSCF0114GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers online portfolio’s, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them?  Courtney: The photographers that grab my attention are the ones that capture the details in both their photography and their editing such as the models complexion and skin tone along with the high quality and definition that grabs the eye I also pay attention to the background and the types of models they use, if the photos look like they’re clips from movies or some kind of popular music video then that photographer is definitely doing something right. If the photos look like they would be good enough to be seen in magazines it makes me want to shoot with them, because that’s the kind of thing I want in my portfolio to wow the people who are interested in me.

GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career to date? How do you handle negative feelings from those intimidated with your success? Courtney: I have actually, my friends and family encourage it, but the few guys that I’ve been with have mixed feelings about it. They like me chasing my dreams but are hesitant about me modeling in a sexual way, like lingerie or things of that nature. Which I can understand but I believe the woman’s body can be beautiful and why not show it off if it’s moderate. My kind of lingerie modeling would be like Victoria secret, classy and elegant. I explain that I’m not trying to disrespect their wishes of keeping me to themselves because that’s the right thing to do but only to make it as far as I can.

DSCF0052GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel other women are intimidated when learning you are a model and how do you handle this? Courtney: I hope not, I feel as a model you should set an example for girls everywhere. Models are meant to look the part and should act the part as well. I could understand why people would be intimated by models because they’re portrayed as being mean or snotty in movies and tv shows but I’m probably one of the friendliest people you would ever meet and I wouldn’t want anyone to feel afraid to talk to me or ask me something.

GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions and body language are sometimes the hardest part of a successful photo session, how and where did you learn this and do you have any special routines or rituals you go through when you are preparing for a photoshoot?  Courtney: Facial expressions and body language and the attitude you portray in photos are a big part of being a successful model, it’s always been kind of a natural thing for me though, I like to go to the shoot and really play the part so I can have the best shots. I wouldn’t really say I have any specific routines or anything like that, I’m always just excited for shoots and I want to get out there and kill it every time.

GlamModelz Magazine: Posing is, of course, one of the biggest parts of modeling. What inspires you in the unique gracefully poses you seem to be pulling off? What advice would you offer new models to the industry? Courtney: Posing is something you have to be comfortable with, I always feel like if you’re not acting like a star than you’re not fully using your potential to shine. I always try to show the kind of emotion and wear clothes according to what my atmosphere is like. You have to be confident and sometimes over dramatize the look to really kill it, sometimes when I’m going into a shoot and need ideas for poses I look on a couple of sites like Pinterest or Instagram for poses by other models to help inspire me.

GlamModelz Magazine: Which website do you feel is best for getting your name out there? Where to you receive the most response? Which site(s) do you feel are the worst and why?  Courtney: Personally I have had the most success with just Facebook and Instagram, I get a lot of messages on both sites from photographers that have seen my page and say they want to shoot with me and it gives me lots of  opportunities to enhance my portfolio, as for the worst, in my opinion, it would probably be model mayhem I made a model mayhem profile a while back and have barely used it because it doesn’t seem like many people use it, it seems like the kind of site that got a lot of hype during a period of time and has since kind of died down, not very many active users left in my eyes so I kinda pushed it to the side.
