GlamModel: Lacheln

Home Glam Modelz   GlamModel: Lacheln

GlamModelz Magazine is pleased to introduce a new face to the Fashion, Glamour, Beauty Modeling industry, Lacheln of Peoria, Arizona. Her obvious beauty is matched not only by her desire to succeed as a model, but the amazing potential that she possesses. We look forward to seeing many great things from Lacheln in the very near future.

GlamModelz Magazine: Welcome to GlamModelz Magazine Lacheln!

GlamModelz Magazine: Let’s get started! Tell me about your background…how did you get started in the modeling industry? Lacheln: I actually started modeling at the age of 12. My grandmother is an artist and she got me started doing art modeling for various art classes, artists, and events. I modeled consistently for 5 years until I finally got a “real” job at the age of 17.

GlamModelz Magazine: You certainly have a unique look Tell us how you’ve developed the look and style you have now. Lacheln: As a teenager I went through a bunch of different style phases. I remember being “goth”, “skater”, “punk”, “metal”, etc. Actually, I can’t think of a different alternative scene that hasn’t inspired me at least a little. A lot of my look is derived from my interest in the Japanese underground music scene. I first dyed my hair pink at the age of 16 to imitate a couple of Japanese musicians who were idols of mine.

GlamModelz Magazine: What has been your favorite photo shoot? Was it the photographer, the theme, or something else? Lacheln: I have done so many photo shoots now that I really don’t have any one favorite anymore! There are a lot that stand out in my mind for various reasons. Some of my favorites are the ones where everyone shows up with nothing planned out and somehow the magic just happens.

GlamModelz Magazine: What is the funniest story you have from a photo shoot? Lacheln: Hmm. There are many but one that stands out in my mind was actually from when I used to do art modeling. I was probably about 16 or so and posing in front of an entire class of foreign students. I remember that somebody went into the supply closet and got locked inside….they started yelling frantically in Chinese. It wasn’t even that funny but I started laughing and couldn’t stop…which is very bad when you’re trying to stay still and pose for 3 hours!

SONY DSCGlamModelz Magazine: Do you have a style of modeling you prefer? Lacheln: Anything! I like any style of modeling as long as the photographer knows what they are doing and can execute the idea well.

GlamModelz Magazine: What or who inspires you as a model and why? Lacheln: I am inspired by so many various people and things. Like I mentioned, I am very influenced by Japanese pop culture styles. I also am inspired a lot by some famous icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, and of Andy Warhol’s “Superstars”. I’d say that above all I am inspired by other models and musicians such as Goldfrapp, Bowie, Bjork, The Rolling Stones, etc.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other styles of modeling are you most interested in? Lacheln: I am interested in shooting anything unique that I’ve never done before! I’d like to try underwater modeling someday. I have a phobia of swimming so it would definitely be a challenge.

GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any tips or suggestions for new models such as advice regarding makeup, where to purchase clothing, how to get the best deals, etc.? Lacheln: Sure! There are several different types of makeup that work well for shoots. MAC is my personal favorite. They have awesome products and brushes. MAC products are a great investment for models to make. As far as clothing—I buy my clothes in all sorts of places. I shop online and at thrift stores a lot and also make my own clothes. Just don’t be afraid to take risks and try new styles!

SONY DSCGlamModelz Magazine: What challenges do you face in this industry? What would you change about it, if you could? Lacheln: I am definitely not the typical model. I am only a little over 5’6 and have bright pink hair. This has made my modeling career much more difficult because I am usually classified as an “alt model” even though I have only one tattoo and no piercings. So yes, I don’t really fit into any particular category as a model and that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Honestly, I like being an independent model and being my own boss!

The main thing I would change about the industry is the huge obsession with height. Some of my favorite models are NOT 5’10-6 ft tall. As long as a model has the correct proportions that’s all that should matter.

GlamModelz Magazine: How would you best describe your personal modeling style? Lacheln: Bright and cartoony? I guess that would be the best way to describe it! I am a painter as well so I like to plan out shoots in the same way that I would plan out a painting. My favorite thing is color matching…I am a big fan of color. When planning a shoot I am usually very careful of all of the details. I want everything that I do to portray something out of the ordinary.

SONY DSCGlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals and ambitions for your modeling? Other goals? Lacheln: I’d like to start doing more high quality fashion shoots and more crazy alternative shoots. As a model I am always trying to learn more and perfect my craft. I am starting to work out and do yoga to get more flexible. I am also a painter and my main focus right now (other than modeling) is improving as an artist. Someday I’d like to be able to have my paintings in galleries all over the world! I am really ambitious and a workaholic! I am always studying and trying to improve in whatever I do.

GlamModelz Magazine: What do you think of the modeling industry in general? Where is it going and what do you see as your role in it? Lacheln: The world of modeling is changing a lot because of two things: the internet, and digital cameras. Actual print magazines are slowly becoming less important. Of course, magazines such as Vogue are still out there but the majority of people are spending much more time on the internet. As such, internet models are getting a lot of work and exposure. I don’t think that I would be able to be the kind of model that I am if I grew up in another decade!

SONY DSCGlamModelz Magazine: What sort of experiences have you had with various photographers, who do you like to work with? Lacheln: Every photographer is different. I always think that I have seen it all… and then I shoot with someone who has a completely different style that surprises me. I am pretty good at working with anyone. However, my favorite photographers are those types that are laid back and give direction when needed but don’t micromanage.

GlamModelz Magazine: What qualities should Photographers/MUA’s/Stylists, etc. have to work with you? Lacheln: Talent!

GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us about your biggest accomplishment to date or what makes you most proud. Lacheln: Hmm…I am not sure! I am really proud of a lot of the work that I have done.

GlamModelz Magazine: What advice do you have for new models? Lacheln: I have so much advice! First of all—practice. Learn how to do hair and makeup because if you’re just starting out you’ll probably have to do your own styling for a while until you have a team built up. Pay attention to the details…hair, nails, wardrobe. Have goals but also realize that when you’re starting out…things may not go as planned so don’t get discouraged. Start out with smaller photographers and build up your skill before contacting more professional photographers. Get a good reputation going because bad news travels fast. If you want to be a professional model there’s nothing worse than being known for flaking on shoots, drinking on the job, or just having a bad attitude.

SONY DSCGlamModelz Magazine: In addition to modeling, do you have other skills/interests/talents in which you excel? Lacheln: As mentioned, I am a painter. I also play music. I’ve been playing the piano and guitar for many years. Recently I’ve gotten really interested in playing the bass! I am going to start jamming with some friends of mine and building up my skills as a bassist.

GlamModelz Magazine: What other interesting facts would you like GlamModelz readers to know about you or is there anyone you’d like to thank? Lacheln: My ethnicity is kind of interesting. I am half Asian and half white/Native American. I’m sure there’s a lot of people I could thank for helping me out along the way but I’d like to thank Mike Lawson in particular for getting me this interview. Thanks Mike!
