All the way from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, GlamModelz Magazine is proud to present GlamModel Jacqui. Jacqui is a veteran model, with many publication credits including Host of Naked News, Jacqui is a trend setter in the Glamour Modeling Industry and we are proud to have her in our own publication.
GlamModelz Magazine: How did you get your start in the business? Jacqui: When I was young I was always really hyper and would often put on “fashion shows” and “plays” for my family and friends. I was a model/actress from age 15 to 23, doing a variety of print, runway and movie extra work. After 15 years off, I am back at it better than ever.
GlamModelz Magazine: What excited you the most when you first started modeling? Jacqui: The opportunity to “play dress up”, travel, have my picture taken and get paid for it!
GlamModelz Magazine: Have you had the support of family, friends and significant other in regards to your decisions for your modeling career to date? Jacqui: My mother was always extremely encouraging and supportive, and now my husband has taken over that role as my number one Uber Fan! …..and driver, manager etc…
GlamModelz Magazine: What are your goals personally and with your modeling career? Jacqui: Personally I would like to stay fit, happy and healthy as long as I can! And for my career….to be recognized as the best “over 40” model ever!
GlamModelz Magazine: When working on concepts for upcoming shoots, how much thought or effort do you put into it? Where does your inspiration come from? Jacqui: My next shoot, and the one after that….is EVERYTHING I think about…always. I am constantly shopping, surfing and experimenting with fashion, make up and hair ideas and concepts. My inspiration comes from various media, fashion trends, my favourite models and the best of the best from the past.
GlamModelz Magazine: What would you like to see change in the industry from a model’s standpoint? Jacqui: I would like to see more models taking control of their own careers….we as models, know ourselves better than anybody else. I would like to see more models freelancing and guiding their own careers.
GlamModelz Magazine: What gets you motivated everyday to stay in shape and look your best at all times? Jacqui: I take my career very seriously, I am only as good as my worst picture. When I walk out the door I am representing my own brand and image. If I don’t watch out for it….who will?
GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any thoughts or suggestions to models about wardrobe? Such as what to have and where to find deals? Jacqui: I say always over pack, you can never bring too much to a shoot. Second hand stores, thrift shops and seasonal stores and sections are awesome! Always keep your eyes on fashion trends in the media and about town.
GlamModelz Magazine: Facial expressions are a big part of a photo session, how and where did you learn this? Jacqui: I am very dramatic….I speak with my face, hands and body. This is not learned…it just is!
GlamModelz Magazine: Do you feel that flexibility and diversity are important to a model’s portfolio? Jacqui: Yes it is extremely important! Don’t pigeon hole yourself. A certain gig may not “be you” but will be an awesome image…. sometimes let the photographer lead the creative process.
GlamModelz Magazine: If you had one thing to tell a model just entering the industry what would that be? Jacqui: Trust your gut. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Do your research and check references. You don’t need to be agency signed to be a successful model.
GlamModelz Magazine: Tell us the funniest story that has personally happened to you on a runway or photoshoot: Jacqui: I had some hair extensions fall off, and rest in a place where they appeared to be poorly groomed pubic hair.
GlamModelz Magazine: We have noticed you seam to be branching out into other areas in your modeling. Do you have a style or category you really enjoy shooting? Jacqui: My favorite is glamour nudes…. especially with glitter and furs (fake fur of course).
GlamModelz Magazine: Your complexion always looks so flawless. Will you share your beauty secrets you use to keep it that way? Jacqui: Botox and wine! Lol! And laugh a lot! But really, I do spend a tremendous amount of time and effort maintaining good skin health. Lots of spa visits, laser treatments, creams, lotions and skin treatments that I have found to work best for me. Vaseline has always been a staple.
GlamModelz Magazine: The Modeling reality TV shows have created quite an interest in modeling these days. Can you offer any advice for those interested in getting their big brake? Any Tips for models wishing to do it sooner rather then later? Jacqui: I would suggest trying to get work with the best around in anything…even if you have to do it for free initially to develop a quality portfolio. Never take no for an answer.
GlamModelz Magazine: When reviewing photographers online portfolio’s, what grabs your attention? What type of images gets you in the mood to shoot with them? Jacqui: I like artsy pictures that incorporate an amazing image with creative editing. I do really like the post production work that many photographers are doing now. I notice shock value! Experienced photographers always have something new to add.
GlamModelz Magazine: Do you have any other interests, hobbies, sports or special talents you would like to tell us about? Jacqui: I love to travel. LOVE animals. Love anything glittery! And while juggling this, I manage to be the best mom and wife.
